As the critical backer of two of the success stories here, Rocket Lab and Planet, DCVC is delighted to see the heroics of these teams highlighted — and their positive impact on humanity’s security and prosperity. It is also an interesting story of the difficulty markets — private and public — have in filtering out charlatans and hypesters in deeply technical arenas that promise gold rush outcomes, whether it is in space systems (as is the case here), AI (we can all watch it happen), energy and climate tech, biotech, or robotics.

123.4 million viewers Super Bowl LVIII, the most-watched (US) telecast in history. What a throwback to the days of shared cultural moments and mass audiences While the game still draws impressive numbers, we all know those peak viewership benchmarks are outliers in our current splintered media landscape. In 2024, the norm is niche programming and fragmented viewership across countless apps and streaming platforms. Appointment viewing is largely a thing of the past. Yet for one night a year, a sizable portion of the country still gathers around the TV to take part in this American cultural institution. As much as I celebrate the creator economy, democratization of content distribution and the autonomy of choice, there's power in the scale of this one event to drive the cultural narrative, at least for a few days. It's too bad most of the ads missed the mark this year What were your standouts?

As I plan to dive into the intense and action-packed world of Marvel Studios' latest series "Echo," now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, I can't help but wonder: What if bar review materials for the exam were rated TV-MA or R? 🤔 "Echo" marks the first Disney+ series from Marvel Studios to earn a TV-MA rating, reserved for mature audiences. It's a stark departure from the typical Disney fare we know and love. But hey, change can be good, right? In my newest #deantommytips blog post, I imagine review materials where the outlines, questions, and explanations are candid, the language is colloquial (and perhaps even a tad profane), and humor and sarcasm run rampant.
