"At nearly $1000 per person for some tests, the cost of currently marketed Multicancer Early Detection (MCED) tests could overwhelm health systems. Companies are already lobbying the U.S. Congress to cover MCED tests in Medicare. The possibility that such tests could be widely implemented in the absence of an RCT demonstrating reduced cancer-related mortality is concerning, given the hard-learned lesson that cancer screening must be implemented cautiously, with a solid foundation of evidence on benefits and harms."
