 Local walkability is important when removing level crossings. Here's a cautionary tale where improved access for cars was provided, as was access to the station (3 entrances per side) but access across the rail corridor to shops became less direct. Mostly due to the poor placement of a pedestrian crossing that forces a long diversion. Pushing this out once again. 1. No one should pre/post op their seats 2. Operators think their seats are working when they are not 3. The Program Offices marginalize the importance of reliable seats and their ability to reduce injury 4. Seats should be downselected in the same manner that we select body armor. That is with focus and attention to detail 5. The seat companies should be required to provide longer warranties of 5 years. If their seats break or require shocks to be changed out, that company should pay, not our tax dollars. It will drive down program cost 6. Seats should be constantly tested underway with inertial measuring units to determine if they are protecting the operators and passengers. For far too long we keep seats onboard boats and don’t realize that they are breaking our bodies and damaging our brains. 1000 permanantly disabled operators =$48m per year/$480M per decade
