With the use of geosynthetics, 200 truckloads can be saved for just one project! A conventional clay sealing requires a lot of clay mineral. That means to cover a surface of 4,500m² you need up to 175-225 truck loads to transport the mineral sealing to the construction site. Thanks to the use of geosynthetic clay liners (GCL) more than 200 truckloads can be saved! Using GCLs requires lower sealing material. That means with roll dimensions of 5.10 x 40 m, a single truck is sufficient to transport enough material to cover the whole surface. Geosynthetics beat conventional methods in terms of sustainability, among other things! The Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC), developed by the consortium partners of the BAM project, incorporates key constituents including cement, reference sand, micro silica, and steel fibers of 6mm and 13mm. Hardened specimens were evaluated for their mechanical properties, achieving a minimum compressive strength of 150 MPa and flexural strength of 20 MPa, paving the way for successful blast and impact validation!
