It is an excellent video. The topic is well-chosen. There is a lot that we can all learn from each other. Every generation has a unique perspective to offer.

We’d be embarrassed to admit how little we really know—not just about the future, but also about our perception of the present.
A reflection on the role of #narrative in leading to fallacy, human vulnerability to desire to be right, and a prelude for what's to come.

Singleness is often misunderstood as an abnormality to be endured, but in truth, it's an opportunity to be embraced. Take inspiration from this quote from #Boldly23 speaker, Dr. JoAnn Hummel. Let's challenge the narrative and celebrate the unique journey of self-discovery, growth, and fulfillment that comes with being single.

What do you think?
Whose Story Is It?I think this question will be very pertinent in the journey ahead given that If Crows Could Talk is based on a story that comes from Jim Crow; from a dark period in American history. Though I think the story is really about family and life; actions and consequences… and some things we might never understand… people have already asked: is it my story to tell? What do you think? #IfCrowsCouldTalk#WalelaBooks

🌟 We're all called to serve... in our own right! 🌟
At our recent Young Kings luncheon with Congressman Dusty Johnson, we left with a renewed sense of optimism about a collaborative future for our community and country.
Here are my top 3 takeaways:
1. Release and Grow: Let go of past baggage and outdated mindsets to become who you’re truly meant to be.
2. Know Yourself: Understanding who you really are helps you ignore the minority who may dislike or disagree with you. Often, their negativity is a reflection of them, not you.
3. Attack Ideas, Not People: We need to return to attacking ideas, not people. Civility may seem like a lost art, but it’s time for the silent majority to demand its return.
No matter our paths, our community and world need more individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in the areas we feel called to influence.
Let's rise to the challenge and create a better future together.

Hey LinkedIn fam,
I recently stumbled upon a TED Talk from 2014 by the incredible Diversity Advocate Verna Myers, and it got me thinking about the unconscious biases we all carry. The talk, especially the "female pilot incident" she shared at the 4-minute mark, highlighted how these biases can be subtle and unintentional.
As we've moved from 2014 to 2024, it's worth pondering whether we've taken the time to introspect and overcome our biases. It's a journey we all need to embark on, and it starts with acknowledging that sometimes, we're unaware of the biases we hold.
Here's what we can do:
-> Face the discomforts: Let's appreciate diversity, build meaningful relationships, and extend cooperation without prejudices. It's in discomfort that growth happens.
-> Work to break the chain of biases: We need to actively prevent biases from taking root and passing on to future generations.
-> Reflect on our thoughts: Writing about them, discussing them openly, questioning from all angles – these steps can lead to self-awareness and freedom from biases.
-> Take tests: It might sound like an exam, but tools like the Harvard Implicit Association Test can provide insights into our biases.
-> Keep Going: Embracing diversity and inclusion is an ongoing process. Our minds have the incredible ability to update continuously if we're willing to put in the effort.
Remember, it's not easy to let go of traditional thoughts, but the journey is worth starting. Our collective efforts in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion will determine the kind of world we leave for future generations.
On a personal note, I recently had an experience at a bank branch that left me feeling indifferent and somewhat discriminated against. The staff, all from a particular visible minority different from mine, seemed disengaged. It made me realize how crucial it is to look beyond prejudices for a more inclusive world.
Let's keep pushing for positive change together!
