Spain will be a tricky opponent for Australia since it has the size and the outside shooting to match them. If Australia is ever going to win this match, Josh Giddey must continue to keep his point guard play at a high level because Spain is the kind of team that punishes opponents for every turnover they make. And it is no surprise that we are still favouring sides from one side of the draw, New Zealand demolishing Argentina last night shows exactly how strong one side of the draw is! This game may be a little closer but the expectation is still a reasonably convincing win from South Africa. One of our learnings from previous games is the expected number of tries a team will score, and this has been evident in some of the predictions we have made around England. Although this has generally been factored into the predictions we have spent more work on fine tuning this area. Unfortunately this we haven't had the time to test this thoroughly yet, but it looks like the predicted tries from England could be even lower, down at 1.2 and this lack of try scoring ability from England will surely halt them at this stage?! Looking forward to doing some more work with this expected tries feature and seeing if this can make any significant improvements to the predicted match winners and win margins. What a great 1st test match between two incredible rugby juggernauts. Territorial Advantage- South Africa dominated the territory, playing 60% of the match in Ireland's half. However, Ireland's late surge in possession (84% in the final 10 minutes) kept them in the game. Set Piece- The Springboks' set piece was impressive, while Ireland struggled at lineout time. Turnovers- Ireland had 8 turnovers, while the Springboks had only 2, giving Ireland a significant advantage in this department. Defence and Attack- Both teams were evenly matched in defence and attack, with both teams conceding fewer than 10 penalties. Kicking- Both teams struggled with kicking, with South Africa converting only 2 of their 5 penalties. Kickoff Receipts- Ireland had a 100% kick receipt, while South Africa had a 60% catch return, an area for improvement. Final Score- Springboks won 27-20.

GoPNG should request the Australian Government to use the funds to finance and upgrade the semi professional Domestic Competition (Digicel Cup) into a fully integrated Professional Competition (Tier 1) like the NRL or Super League where the socio-economic benefits far outweigh the benefits to be gained from a PNG NRL Club in the Australian NRL Competition. Even the NRL doesn't see it as commercially viable for their expansion. The Hunters Pathway Program is a failed program so it should not be a basis to push for a License. NRL Bid is a political agenda and not commercially driven so its going to kill Rugby League in the Country. Going forward, you would hardly see local Digicel Cup players wearing the Kumuls jersey!
