Meet Dr. K. Venugopala Rao, MVSc., PhD., DABT, an American board-certified toxicologist with a rich background in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. Starting his career in 1992 as a research fellow at Rallis India Limited, he has since authored over 500 Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulatory studies, mostly involving Inhalation studies. 🔬 With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Rao has worked in the Agrochemical toxicity assessment area for 15 years and in the safety of pharmaceutical test items under IND and NDA paradigm for over 16 years. He has completed over 300 IND reports and several NDAs for regulatory submission. When not immersed in his work, Venugopala enjoys watching and playing cricket, long drives, cooking, and listening to music. 🧪 Bringing Science into Action 🧪 Dr. Rao’s work involves a systematic study of project requirements, therapeutic indications, understanding mechanisms of actions at cellular and sub-molecular levels, and much more. He is continuously updating his knowledge of emerging science and new regulatory requirements, new in-vitro assays, challenges, standardisation, validation, etc. which is crucial for his day-to-day work. 🎓 Advice for New Professionals 🎓 Dr. Venugopala Rao advises young professionals to cover a lot of areas, understand, and practice quickly as it will be critical for their job expectations. “Keep updated on the new techniques/tests/technologies relevant to your work area, be restless until you achieve a hold on your work and science. Keep practicing top-quality work and partake in training from time to time, practice GLP in all the work you do, with good Turn Around Time (TAT).” #EurofinsAsia #TestingForLife #Toxicology #Pharmacology #GLP #RegulatoryScience #CareerAdvice #MeetOurScientists

Sharing Science Knowledge | Adjunct Research Fellow | Science Outreach Consultant - Animal-Free Science Advocacy | Editorial Board Member, Alternatives to Laboratory Animals
🎓 Sharing Insights on 21st Century Toxicology with Curtin University Students 🧪 I recently had the privilege of delivering a guest tutorial on 21st Century Toxicology to a fantastic group of students. 🌱✨ We explored groundbreaking topics like Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs) and Non-animal Models (NAMs), and how these innovative approaches are shaping the future of occupational hazard risk assessment. 🧠🔬 Our key takeaways included: 🔹 Exploring the OECD Adverse Outcome Pathway Wikipedia, an international hub for AOP knowledge 🔹 Understanding how AOPs help assess risks from chemical stressors 🧪 🔹 Evaluating the confidence levels in an AOP 🔍 🔹 Using AOPs to develop integrated testing approaches that can replace animal testing 🐾 🔹 The necessity of non-animal methods for testing new chemicals entering the market 🌍 🔹 Examining how stressors like diesel exhaust lead to health risks through oxidative stress, decreased lung function, and more 🚛💨 🔹 Combining in silico and in vitro methods (e.g., computational fluid dynamics + air-liquid interface cell models) to assess inhalation risks for chemicals like pesticides 🌿💻 A special thanks to Animal-Free Science Advocacy 🐇 for supporting me in developing these materials! #Toxicology #Innovation #AdverseOutcomePathways #NAMs #AnimalFreeScience #CurtinUniversity #OccupationalHealth #RiskAssessment

I had the chance to read volume 504 of Toxicology and particularly enjoyed the articles from the Special Issue on "New Approach Methodologies: From Conceptual Development to Regulatory Application" I am passionate about studies investigating endocrine disruption, and applying alternative methods. The study titled “Exploring a mechanism-based approach for the identification of endocrine disruptors using Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs) and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs): A perfluorooctane sulfonic acid case study” is super!! Excellent research by the #InstituteofEnvironmentalMedicine, #KarolinskaInstitutet, and the Department of Environmental Science at #StockholmUniversity. The authors presented a case study exploring a mechanism-based approach to ED identification, stating that "it represents an important step toward more accurate and predictive assessment of EDs based on AOPs and NAMs, and to the Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) concept." and I fully agree. Enjoy the read! 📚✨ #Toxicology #EndocrineDisruption #AOPs #NAMs #Research #EnvironmentalScience #KarolinskaInstitutet #StockholmUniversity https://lnkd.in/gNntp6-8 https://lnkd.in/grUajPsM

🎉 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀! 🎉 We are proud to announce that Noémie Grangier has successfully defended her Master’s thesis at 𝗙𝗛𝗡𝗪 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 in Basel. Over the past 8 months, Noémie worked at Alexis Technologies, collaborating closely with AlveoliX and Vitrocell Systems GmbH, under the supervision of Arunima Sengupta, Ph.D., Johannes Mosbacher and Nina Hobi. Her thesis, titled "𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗼𝗻-𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗽: 𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀", focused on validating a new dry powder exposure on-chip system. This platform represents a significant leap forward for inhalable drug development and toxicological assessments, including the study of air-borne pollutants, microplastics and consumer associated by-products. We are excited about the potential applications of this innovative platform 👏 and we can’t wait to see where her talents take her next.💡 #InhalationOnChip #LungStudies #LifeSciences #MastersThesis #AlexisTechnologies #AlveoliX #Vitrocell #FHNW #Pharmacology #Toxicology #3Rs
