The results are in! It’s exhausting! 😓 The 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 2024 report, marking its 10th anniversary, has just been released by McKinsey & Company in collaboration with LeanIn.Org. The findings echo what many women have been feeling in the workplace—especially over the past few years. Here’s a critical insight that stood out to me: “Over the past decade, women have made important gains at every level of the corporate pipeline (especially in senior leadership). Yet progress is surprisingly fragile, especially for women of color, who continue to be underrepresented at every level and who view gender and race as obstacles to their advancement. In many instances, women’s outlook and day-to-day experiences are not much different, or are even worse, than they were nearly a decade ago.” Whew! 😮💨 If you’re working in Corporate America, I highly encourage you to read this report. It’s a powerful reminder that you’re not imagining things—you’re not alone, and this is a real problem. Women, especially women of color, cannot rely solely on their managers for visibility, promotions, or career development. The report validates this. As a Leadership Coach, I help women leaders get visible—especially when they don’t have a supportive manager. Remember, you are not alone. #Exhausting #WomenofColor #WeAlreadyKnew

This past week, I’ve had conversations with three incredible Women of Culture leaders who are all contemplating leaving their organizations. Despite their unwavering commitment and talent, each of them feels exhausted, unheard, and unfairly labeled as "too aggressive" and "not aligned." On a personal level, it's disheartening and draining to witness such high-caliber talent considering their exit. The systemic challenges they face are not just professional, but deeply personal and emotional as well. It’s a stark reminder of the urgent need for environments where the voices/contributions of women of culture are valued. As leaders, it's our responsibility to create spaces where they can thrive without compromising their identity or well-being. As organizations, you are losing valuable talent. 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲. It costs you money every time a woman of culture walks out the door - in institutional knowledge, in strategic thinking, and in employees committed to delivering results. Leaders pause and ask to listen for - What is happening for me? What would make my role even better? How can I personally support this? #Leadership #DiversityandInclusion #WomenofCulture #InclusiveLeadership #Retention #Empowerment

New Episode! Beyond the Glass Ceiling: Building Supportive Structures for Women Leaders (Part 4) We've tackled self-doubt, motivation, and external societal pressures. But there's another crucial factor: perceived organizational support. Eisenberger's 1986 study highlights how feeling valued and supported by their organization significantly impacts employees' advancement, particularly leadership opportunities. But are women experiencing this support equally? The answer often points to a gap. Women may perceive fewer career opportunities, less fair assessment of their contributions, and limited supervisor support compared to their male counterparts. Additionally, traditional work structures may not consider their unique needs as mothers, caregivers, or individuals facing societal expectations. So, how can you bridge this gap and elevate women's leadership journeys? Here are some questions to reflect on: ❓ What concrete steps can our organization take to offer equal career development opportunities for women? ❓ Are our performance evaluation systems truly unbiased and inclusive? ❓ Do our leaders actively champion and mentor women within the organization? ❓ Do we offer flexible work arrangements or childcare support to address common challenges faced by women? ❓ Is our work culture one that truly values diversity and inclusivity in leadership roles? Answering these questions and taking action is not just about doing the right thing; it's about harnessing the immense potential of women leaders and creating a thriving organization for everyone. Stay tuned for Part 5, where I'll share more about dismantling the glass ceiling! ❤️ If this resonates with you, empower others by sharing with your network. #WomenLeaders #DiversityInclusion #WomenEmpowerment #Empowerment #LeadershipDevelopment #leadership #leadershipspeaker #leadershipquote #leadershipcoach #leadershipcoaching #leadershipdevelopmentcoach

🌟 **Myth-Busting Monday: Women Supporting Women in Careers** 🌟 Contrary to the myth that women don't support each other in their careers, predominantly it is the media that is responsible for creating ‚strong‘ female characters who are given male characteristics to succeed. Unfortunately that makes them dislikeable. Most decent people want to be liked. Women crave that - we’ve been socialized that way! 📌That used to be a problem in conventional leadership where men saw themselves as strong leaders if they were feared - when they ‚commanded’ respect - but that’s not going to work any more. Not in international business where we need the younger generation to step into responsibility fast, despite their slower, more relaxed approach. Showing up as a macho bully is just not authentic to who we are or how women lead. We prefer to boost togetherness, which is great for employee retention, innovation and sustainability. It also makes us feel good as individuals in our own right. Beyond films, in the real business world, there are many incredible European initiatives which have been created to maximize on the power of female solidarity. Programs like the EIC Women Leadership Programme and the Female Leadership Accelerator at Mannheim Business School foster environments where women can thrive together. That’s great because as a student, often still a single woman, you‘re still putting yourself first and thriving academically. It‘s a mindset matter. Why? They get it - there is absolutely no reason for women to play second fiddle! That’s a great time to pick women up emotionally and strategically with the skills to not just survive but thrive in their careers. These female leadership programs not only focus on and boost leadership skills but also create strong, inspiring networks of women genuinely supporting each other. Sonja Culjak and I want to facilitate and amplify women‘s amazing knowledge, experience and skills, proving that women can and do uplift each other in our professional journeys. Women can and must support each other. If men have bruised egos about this, what about our bruised egos of women over generations now? It‘s time for female leadership to disrupt international business and tech because new work and today‘s business challenges demands more authenticity. It’s our time. #EmpowerHER #WomenInLeadership

𝗔𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆. I had the privilege and honor of co-moderating a roundtable discussion for global workforce management (#gwfm) with Meena. The panelists for this roundtable were esteemed industry leaders. During this engaging session, industry leaders shared their insights and views on inspiring inclusion and enhancing diversity within organizations. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱: - understanding the barriers that contribute to existing disparities, - the importance and the need of having more women at all levels, - fostering a culture of belonging, and - amplifying the voices of marginalized women to create an equitable workplace. Despite years of focus on diversity, the impact on the ground remains insufficient. Senior leadership across industries considers diversity a top priority, yet the numbers do not always reflect the efforts being made. From the panel discussion, several key themes emerged, here are a few of them: 𝟭. 𝗧𝗼𝗽-𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Implementing training programs at all levels to eliminate biases. 𝟮. 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴: Assigning mentors or coaches to support women across different levels. 𝟯. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: Building a spirit of partnership where everyone feels included. 𝟰. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Women need to have clarity and confidence to effectively communicate their needs and aspirations. 𝟱. 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀: Recognizing the need for visible role models at every level. I extend my gratitude to Partho Ganguly GWFM®, Meenalochani Kumar, and the panelists for their valuable contributions and thought-provoking insights! It was a great success with your support! #womenleadership #leadershipdevelopment #careercoach
