Every year, Richmond Promise Summer Associates join our staff in delivering some of the services we provide to RP Scholars. This year, five outstanding RP Scholars from UC Berkeley, Howard University, USC and UC Davis are helping us in our work. What drove them to return to Richmond to work on behalf of local students? And, what are they working towards as they shape their own postsecondary journeys? Check out what each had to say by visiting this year's Summer Associate Q&As at the link below! NOTHING IS " IMPOSSIBLE" TO ACCOMPLISH ! Simply because, I can learn by listening and recalling whatever I hear, see and/or read IRRESPECTIVE of person, place, subject, trade or circumstances that I pass by or with!
To accept and appreciate the wrong pronunciation / accent for the Spoken English Learners from the beginning is the right and the most effective method to teach and learn English to speak rapidly and fluently! Because the accent or right pronunciation issue of teaching or training culture in language learning is in fact the prime cause to create shyness, fear and disappointment among the learners and ultimately destroy their desire and dream to learn speak English and it also true for the learners of any other foreign languages are taught through English! Whereas the more languages a person will learn, the more that person could beyond the border without barrier! Again the more languages a person if be learnt; the more knowledge, wisdom, informative, competent and sensible / smart Leader would that person be!

Doesn’t it feel like all we talk about these days is AI? It tops every agenda now – from Davos to Dayton. Yes, we need to take it seriously and prepare: jobs will go away and many more will change – but how? As technology does more of the work on our behalf – for better or worse – distinctly human capabilities like creativity, critical thinking, clarity of expression, and caring for human experience will increasingly become the “hard” skills. Are we ready? Thanks to Michael Elliott and Emily Cameron Griffen for having me back to Amherst College (seriously, twist my arm…) to share a perspective on how a Liberal Arts education will prepare today's students for leadership in the future – in careers, yes – and also in life and as citizens of an increasingly complex society.
At the first-ever Sophomore Summit, Anne-Claire C. Roesch '08 spoke to the class of 2026 about the value of the liberal arts for their future careers and lives. She joined President Elliott for Between 2 Mammoths to talk about what she shared with the students and her continued involvement with the College as an alumna. 📹: Marcus DeMaio / Office of Communications

It was an honor to organize and facilitate this conversation and hear inspirational words about communications careers from three of my former students and Jose Banzon, a valued partner for the Honors College. Some highlights from the wisdom they shared: Acknowledge what you don't know. Each of my guests emphasized the importance of asking questions. We often are communicating about topics without being subject matter experts - and even when it is our area of expertise, there is always more to learn. Be confident about what you do know. Even when you are new to a team or a junior professional, confidently bring what you know to the table. It might be the difference between merely succeeding in a campaign and excelling. Effective communication should be valued in all fields. The key questions for communication professionals can guide professionals in all fields: to whom are you speaking? in what channel? with what goals? and, most importantly, how might you most effectively get your ideas across and achieve your goals? Communication professions are exciting, creative. Communication careers are exciting because they afford us opportunities to use our creativity, work with interesting people, and engage in a wide range of different rewarding tasks in a given week. Take care of yourself. Finding the ways to take care of your body, mind, and heart are essential to showing up as a effective communication professional who can be present for the opportunities that present themselves. Find what works for you. #communications #marketing #professionaldevelopment #creativity
A huge thank you to Tom Shaw, Sophia Chapin, Jose Banzon, and Stephen Taglieri for joining Honors College students this past Friday for a panel about careers in Communications!

Perhaps I'm just ignorant, but what and where and when is Diversity Equality and Inclusion relevant? Let's start with admittance and grades for QC courses. In my day those who scored the required SAT scores and had the required average in Highschool were accepted into QC. There was no discrimination. Just numbers. Everyone else could go to QCC and matriculate into QC for their Junior year. Diversity irrelevant. Equality, everyone got an equal opportunity, Inclusion standards were color blind and ethnic neutral. Now lets look at Main St. Flushing 1970 compared to today. Back then Diversity in all races and religions. Equality was go into a store with money and you got what you wanted. Inclusion All were welcome. Today's Main St. Flushing. 100% Asian language. 100% Asian business owned. What happened to Diversity? What's concerning is when the people in charge program AI. The one source of programming will end the 1st amendment. Then obviously old uninformed people like me will just have to accept the infallible explanations. Oh well. I guess the truth checkers will make it all right.
Spring is a busy time at QC! In the April issue of President Frank Wu's newsletter "Frankly Speaking," read about upcoming campus events, including Diversity Week (April 15-19) and Become a Knight Day, a celebration for accepted Fall '24 students!
