Qantas and Jetstar Airways are going organic on #Vanuta Routes, while the increased capacity will directly benefit Tourism bringing the ever increasing number of #Australian travellers which should be great for their economy. Just to put this in context, The combined nine weekly return flights from Qantas and Jetstar will add a substantial number of seats to the market, estimated to be around 50,000 annually. This is a good move, as these routes were earlier participated on code-share basis but going Organic with both these amazing brands of airlines, suggests that the airlines see great potential for these operations and route expansions. #Queensland and Thailand are reconnecting - Jetstar to fly Bangkok - Brisbane with 787 Dreamliner - Launching 3 flights per week from December - Boost for Queensland’s tourism industry and exporters - This is Jetstar’s 20th Brisbane route in the carrier’s 20th year Airline announces launch sale for the new route.One of the final missing pieces of the post-pandemic puzzle will fall into place with Jetstar set to reconnect Queensland and Thailand with direct services between Bangkok (BKK) and Brisbane (BNE). Jetstar will fly the route 3 times per week from 13 December using a 787 Dreamliner. It will be the only non-stop service with a flight duration of just over eight hours, approximately half the current travel time via indirect routes. The list of the top 10 busiest airports in 2023 has been revealed with Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport coming in number one with 61.2 million passengers passing through last year. Coming in second was Dubai International Airport (56.5 million passengers) with Tokyo International Airport (52.6 million passengers) in third.

The Olbia airport could surpass its historic passenger record this year, exceeding 3.5 million transits at Costa Smeralda airport. This milestone is driven by the post-pandemic tourism boom and strategies by Geasar, now managed by the F2I infrastructure fund. "Prospects are excellent; we expect around 3.5 million passengers in 2024, a 10% increase from last year, which was already a record year," says Mario Garau, head of route development at Geasar. "The season started much earlier, with a 45% increase compared to May 2023 and a 35% growth from January to May this year. All our partner airlines, including Easyjet, Volotea, Wizz Air, Lufthansa, British Airways, and Iberia, have begun operations earlier, extending the tourist season." Starting June 15, 2024, the skies between Sardinia and the United Arab Emirates will once again be traversed by the direct Olbia-Dubai flight, operated by flydubai, part of the Emirates group. Good News for Liberty South Africa and Liberty Australia as Qantas set to double JNB capacity... On September 30, Qantas will start using an Airbus A380 superjumbo on its services from Sydney to Johannesburg, doubling its capacity on every flight. Michi Messner, Regional Manager Africa for the airline, was a very exciting development for the route. “This adds 55 000 seats per year, and our peak period capacity will be doubled. Our flights on the currently used Boeing Dreamliner have 236 seats. This will rise to a total of 485 seats.” Messner says the A380 will be configured in a four-class interior with 14 first-class suites, 70 business-class seats (currently the number is 42), 60 premium economy seats (currently 28) and 341 economy-class seats. And more exciting news is that the aircraft will have an onboard lounge seating 10 passengers (only for premium-class passengers). Messner says the flight frequency, once the A380 is introduced, will toggle between five and six flights per week. I suspect we may see more of this in 2024! 🏆 This year is set to be a big one as we look forward to: - NEW AIRLINE: Royal Jordanian launching 3x weekly services to Amman - NEW AIRLINE: Luxair beginning a new 3x weekly service to Luxembourg - Additional (and larger) based aircraft with Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 - The return of Las Vegas to the route map with Virgin Atlantic - Growth with Singapore Airlines, with the return of 5x weekly services to Houston - Eurowings launching new brand new services to Stuttgart and Hamburg - Increased flights with Hainan Airlines, who will operate a daily departure in the summer - Increased services with Qatar Airways going to 3x daily flights all year round - Huge growth with SunExpress who will add an additional 150k seats across Antalya, Dalaman and Izmir. There is a huge need for liberalisation of the airline industry in Vietnam to enhance tourism growth and generate revenue and jobs for the economy. This should go hand in hand with further easing of visas for significantly more countries than currently exists. Post covid many hotels and resorts around the country operate on low occupancies due to lack of airline seats and reasonably priced flights, airline industry liberalisation would go along way to address this problem. Vietnam is losing huge tourism dollars to neighboring countries due to these issues and the glacial speed at which decisions are made to change the status quo.
