Discounted airfares and accommodation are set to lure visitors back to Cairns as part of the $5 million tourism recovery package to support tourism operators impacted by Tropical Cyclone Jasper and flooding. The package is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). From today, the Qantas Group has launched a special sale to encourage Australians to visit Cairns and North Queensland to support tourism operators and local communities impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper. Qantas and Jetstar one-way Economy domestic sale fares to Cairns start from $129 and $79 respectively. The sales include flights to and from most capital cities and intrastate routes for travel from mid-January to the end of March 2024. Discounted accommodation packages will be available in coming weeks through Qantas Hotels & Holidays, My Queensland and Luxury Escapes. JetBlue (Nasdaq: JBLU) announced it has expanded its transatlantic offerings with new, nonstop flights taking off from Dublin to New York and Boston today. Daily summer-seasonal service to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) from Dublin Airport (DUB) will operate through September 30, 2024, and reinforce JetBlue’s role as a disruptor in the industry as it brings low fares and great service to these popular routes. Alice Mansergh Chief Executive Designate of Tourism Ireland said: “The launch of JetBlue’s new flights from New York and Boston is really good news for tourism from the all-important US market to Ireland. As an island destination, we know there’s a proven correlation between direct, convenient access and growth in inbound tourism, so these new flights will certainly help boost visitor numbers and the overall economic value of tourism from the United States in 2024 and beyond. This is a critical first step that sets the stage for various agencies to commence the work to fully realize Broome's potential as a gateway for international cruise vessels. Tourism Western Australia's Managing Director, Carolyn Turnbull MBA GAICD has shared an update on the strategic importance to the state's tourism sector. This promises to not only enhance the Kimberley region's appeal but also to significantly benefit tourism across Western Australia. Welcoming international itineraries to Broome will open up expansive opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in the state's North West region, and also creates opportunities for other Western Australian ports like Dampier and Geraldton, enriching the travel experience along the state's extensive coastline. Qantas provides discounted fares to Exmouth, with prices starting at just $199, dependent on the travel date. Air #travel to the #Caribbean is booming (+9% year-over-year in the first half of 2024), but the real story is in #luxury travel. First and Business Class bookings are soaring at 39% compared to 2023. This confirms the enormous potential of the high-end travelers segment, a prime target for #destinations willing to maximise the economic impact of tourism. Turks and Caicos, the Cayman Islands, and the US Virgin Islands are leading the pack, attracting nearly 10% of all #premium class arrivals.
