Ever thought about how marketing is like traveling? As a performance marketer who loves to travel, I've realized that marketing and traveling have a lot in common. 💎 Exploring New Places: Just like visiting a new city, starting a new marketing campaign needs a plan. Without it, you can easily get lost in the chaos. 💎Understanding Cultures: Whether it's learning about a new culture or getting to know your audience, insights are key. You need to dive in, listen, and adapt to connect meaningfully. 💎UnexpectedSurprises: Traveling often brings unexpected detours, just like marketing campaigns. The best experiences come from being flexible and enjoying the ride, no matter what happens. 💎Telling Stories: Every place has a story, and so does every brand. Sharing the true essence of a destination or a product makes lasting impressions . Traveling has taught me that success in marketing, much like exploring the world, is all about curiosity, adaptability, and connecting with people on a deeper level. P.S. Have you ever tried to market in a language you don't speak? #traveling #marketing #perfromancemarketing #travelwithme #linkedinfam

💥20 Lessons I've Learned More Than 20 Years as a #Travel Researcher (Tell me your favourite lesson in the comments) These past few years have been wild for us all; it is a constant roller-coaster. Here are my tips about marketing to travellers after a lifetime in travel and lifestyle research. Use them. 1. Content = Revenue, Bookings and Visitors 2. Content = Trust, Reputation and Authority (thanks David Amerland 🇺🇦) 3. Travellers want to meet local people 4. Travel transforms people. How can you help with personal transformation? 5. Travellers want to reconnect with those they are travelling with 6. They are looking for opportunities to learn and self-improvement along the way 7. Wellness = access to nature 8. Nature = beautiful and strange landscapes, topography, water 9. Nature = animals in natural environments 10. Travellers love tales, folklore, stories, ghosts, goals and cemeteries 11. History of all kinds 12. Local cultures - even in our own countries 13. Food and wine from the best Chinese in town to 3 hats 14. Stories you come home and tell 15. Sometimes, we are too close to our business to be objective 16. You are probably focusing on the wrong marketing tactics 17. If you are not good at tech, time to find a new career 18. You genuinely need to love people and all their versions, flaws and foibles - not the idea of it. If not, time to find a new career 19. You can market, build and grow your business on zero-budget 20. It'll be harder and take longer than you think. Help is out there I am going to go through all of these in detail over the coming weeks, so keep an eye out. What's your favourite? A friend asked me yesterday, "𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆?!" Let's be honest, it can be tough! But here's the secret: there's no secret. It's a combination of a few things. ✨ 📌 First, conversations are gold! 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬 about industry trends, challenges, and successes sparks so many ideas. We all have unique experiences, and sharing those insights can be valuable. 👥 📌 Second, 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫. Travel and tourism are more than just my job; they're a source of constant fascination. Whether it's a new sustainable travel initiative or a hidden gem destination, the excitement is contagious, and it translates well into engaging posts. ✈️ 📌 Third, there's no substitute for 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. Industry news, thought leader articles, even travel blogs – it all fuels the content fire. 💻 Remember, 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞! 🤝 💡 What are your biggest challenges when it comes to creating LinkedIn content?
