- Biodiversity guides a large number of actions in our #SustainableException CSR roadmap: this week, we are putting them in the spotlight. 💚 - Training and supporting our winegrower and farmer partners, a commitment to the future Science and our own experiences on our Domains have shown that we can increase the resilience of our terroirs while unlocking the power of our soils (capturing more carbon and water and regenerating biodiversity) by deploying regenerative agricultural practices. This is what our program «New Generation Terroirs» is about. 🌱 But these new generation terroirs are also and mostly about supporting a new generation of farmers, who put the health and fertility of their soils at the heart of work. In 2024, we launched two new programs to support our partners in their agro-ecological transition. Bruichladdich Distillery Company has teamed up with Soil Capital to gradually support its 20 Islay farmers in their transition, from training to better remunerating ecosystemic services to nature. Maison Rémy Martin is committed to training, supporting and involving all the winegrowers in its cooperative, Alliance Fine Champagne, by 2030, so that they themselves become actors of change. These new programs support our long-term objective, initiated a few years ago by Graine des cîmes – the association created on the initiative of our Maison Domaine des Hautes Glaces –, and the Collectif Orama of The House of Metaxa, launched in 2022 on the island of Samos in 2023 #Biodiversity

🌍 🐞 The UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) describes biodiversity as “the diversity within species, between species, and of ecosystems, including plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi. These three levels work together to create life on Earth in all its complexity.” 🌱 At ProFound, we see regenerative agriculture and the implementation, management, and creation of sustainable practices as the path forward in agriculture that can also stop biodiversity loss and help nature recover. 🌳 ♨ 👩🌾 One of the projects that comes to mind while commemorating the International Day for Biodiversity is the Tea Garden project we worked with in Sri Lanka some while ago. On that occasion, together with Both ENDS and Rainforest Rescue, we supported a private tea estate and a tea cooperative to produce tea in a forest garden system! Such an exciting project. 🙌 “Together with ProFound, we transformed a tea plantation into a forest garden production (...) providing food and income to communities, improving soils and the quality of the tea.” Shared Ranil Senanayake (Rainforest Rescue International) after the culmination of the project. 🐝 🐛 Over the past thirty years, we’ve worked with farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, non-government organizations, and actors in the value chain who share our beliefs. We are confident that, if action is taken, biodiversity loss can decrease. This is partly the inspiration behind the soon-to-be movement, ReGen55!, which we are developing in partnership with AGREA Agricultural Systems . #ThisIsProFound #AdvisersInDevelopment #ReGen55! #BiodiversityDay #BePartOfThePlan #SustainableFuture #UnEnviromentProgramme #BiodiversityPlan

#WorldSoilDay 🌍 Did you know that each 1% increase in soil organic matter helps our soils hold 150,000 liters more water per hectare? 💦 Championing biodiversity, we stand as soil advocates, nurturing its vitality through our commitment to organic food and agropractices: healthy soils are the heartbeat of sustainable ecosystems and resilient food production! By the way, here are a few efficient and best practices to enhance soil vitality and rejuvenate our food model: - 🌾Crop diversity and rotation to enhance soil fertility and health. - 🌱Adoption of a range of agroecological practices that promote sustainable and environmentally-friendly food production. - 🍃Limitation of the average plot size and encouragement of uncultivated spaces to support biodiversity. - 🌼Effective cover crop management to preserve soil biodiversity. - 🦋Establishment of agro-ecological infrastructure, such as hedgerows and vegetation strips, to provide habitats for beneficial insects and birds. - 🌿A commitment to EU organic regulations and practices. Join us in reshaping the food system and preserve biodiversity! #FoodForBiodiversity

🌿🌍 Biodiversity is essential for a healthy and sustainable ecosystem. Let's take care of every aspect of our land to foster the diversity of life. We strongly believe in the harmonious coexistence between nature and agriculture, knowing that our responsibility goes beyond the crops we harvest. We celebrate Biodiversity Day with a commitment to continue protecting and promoting life in all its forms. 📆 Tomorrow, May 23, our Sustainability Director, Diogo Pires, will participate in a round table at the III Congress of Portugal Nuts where this topic will be addressed. don't miss it! #Bolschare #agriculture #DayOfBiodiversity #Sustainability #ResponsibleAgriculture #PortugalNut #CaresDeTiCuidaDelPlaneta #PeninsulaIberica.

Title: Nurturing Our Ecosystem: The Vital Importance of Soil Health and Biodiversity Are you aware of the profound impact that soil health and biodiversity have on our ecosystem and the quality of our food? In our pursuit of nutrient-rich produce, it's essential to draw inspiration from the wisdom of our ancestors who recognized the intricate connections between nature's elements. 🌱 Soil Health: The Foundation of Abundance Healthy soil is the bedrock of a thriving ecosystem. It not only provides essential nutrients to plants but also supports a diverse range of microorganisms that contribute to nutrient cycling and plant health. As we work towards cultivating nutrient-rich foods, let's remember that the first step begins beneath our feet – nurturing the soil that sustains us. 🦋 Biodiversity: A Delicate Balance Our ancestors understood the importance of maintaining a balance between species. They recognized that birds, insects, and other wildlife played a vital role in maintaining ecosystems. This delicate balance ensures effective pollination, pest control, and overall ecological resilience. By avoiding the use of harmful pesticides, we can protect these essential allies and contribute to a healthier environment. 🌸 Feeding Birds and Insects: A Legacy of Wisdom Remember the age-old practice of feeding birds and insects? Our ancestors knew that these creatures were not just visitors; they were integral participants in the ecosystem. Embracing their wisdom, we can create spaces that welcome these pollinators and allies, ensuring our food production thrives while supporting local wildlife. 🌍 Beyond Yield: Our Duty to Future Generations While achieving high yields is important, it's equally crucial to consider the long-term impact of our actions on the planet. By prioritizing soil health, avoiding harmful chemicals, and fostering biodiversity, we are investing in a sustainable future for generations to come. Let's honor the wisdom of our ancestors and the delicate balance of our ecosystem by championing soil health, biodiversity, and mindful agricultural practices. Together, we can cultivate a world where nutrient-rich food and a vibrant environment coexist harmoniously. Join me in this journey towards a more sustainable and resilient future. #SoilHealth #BiodiversityMatters #SustainableAgriculture
