Calling all Shell Energy employees... Sorry to hear the news about your roles potentially being made redundant, in light of the recent acquisition by Octopus. You have probably took the p*ss out me in the last 18 months for posting on here, in fact I know you have. But let's put that behind us. You can't undo the fact that you have previously used Linkedin to only post when you've been promoted or yesterday when you all added a green banner to your profile, here's what you can do moving forward: - Update your profile: add successes and stories about what you've achieved. No generic shit. It's your profile. Add your personality to it - Create a list of companies roles you want & start connecting with people who work there. Being connected with people you work with currently isn't going to help your situation. (Max out your connects over the next 6 weeks and you'll have up 600ish new connections) - Network. Network & Network some more. Reach out to hiring managers and get ahead of the game. Schedule coffee chats with people in the companies you want to work for. Find out what it's like to work there. Nobody is going to find your next role for you. Your colleagues are all in the same boat but hate to break it you, it's dog eat dog and they aren't going to pay your bills. - Start posting regularly and sharing your story. Again, add your personality to it. You'll have all (well most of you) achieved some great things since the First Utility days. Posting once to say you're looking for a role isn't enough!
