"Hospitality: More than just service — Discover the essence of true hospitality in our latest article." "Job salaries in the hospitality industry vary widely based on the role, experience, and location. Entry-level positions, such as front desk agents or housekeepers, typically earn lower wages, while specialized roles like chefs or event planners earn higher salaries. Status in the industry is often tied to experience, education, and job performance. Advanced positions, such as hotel general managers or corporate executives, command higher salaries and greater status, reflecting their increased responsibilities and expertise." #HospitalityCareers #HotelManagement #HospitalityIndustry #CareerGrowth #HospitalityJobs #JobSalaries #IndustryInsights #CareerDevelopment #TravelAndTourism #HospitalityLife

A few notes from this article that stand out: - In 2024, hotels across the US are expected to collectively shell out $123 billion in compensation — up more than 20% from 2019, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing data from the American Hotel & Lodging Association. - Hotels are still paring back amenities like daily housekeeping services, which were originally reduced or eliminated entirely during the pandemic. Some 70% of hotels have reduced or eliminated amenities and services on-site in response to staffing shortfalls. - In addition, the workers that are on staff are being asked to do more, such as check in guests at the front desk and mix up beverages behind the bar when needed, per The Journal, while the same employees that are doing laundry are helping with housekeeping duties. #hotelier #hotel #hotelmanagement #hotelsales #hotelmarket #hospitality #hotelpayroll #boutiquehotel

Hotel Management is not about the extra work. Hotel Management is not about the extra experience. Hotel Management is not about the extra expertise. Hotel Management IS about the extra responsibility. The performance of the Hotel is on you. The performance of your TEAM is on you. You are the last line of defence. And that’s why I find myself working a 9am-6pm shift on a Sunday when one team member calls in sick and the other two are away for the long weekend. 😂 But it’s important to keep those Guest Service skills sharp. 🙂 #hotelmanagement

The most recent U.S. jobs report contained an interesting tidbit: The American leisure and hospitality workforce is back to pre-pandemic levels. But don't get too excited — There was a hotel labor shortage long before the pandemic...and all of the major hotel companies like Marriott International, Hilton and IHG Hotels & Resorts have made tweaks to operations (daily housekeeping being the most obvious) to adjust to the new normal. Results-Oriented General Manager | Expertise in Team Leadership & Revenue Management | Hospitality Innovator
Boutique Hotel General Managers True Boutique hotels range from 10 - 50 Rooms and most do not just have rooms, the have suites and villas to reside in. Boutique Hotel General Managers are a different breed to the more larger commercial hotels. Within the Larger hotels you tend to find a GM immersed under paperwork, constantly in meetings, on the computer and out of sight. They do step out here and there for meetings, meal breaks, meet and greet as well as VIP arrivals. Boutique GM's do all this but more in the terms of facial presence, the paper work is less than larger hotels and more concentrated, but the man power is considerably lower in Boutique as margins have to be met, marketing is internal, HR is minimised and lots of staff are Multi-tasking. Micro-management is essential and Hands on is part and parcel of the role. Key roles are filled in these hotel, Exec chef, Maintanence, Accounts, sometimes HR, Reservations (unless you outsource) the rest are filled by supervisor roles or dual role personalities. As a GM your role is very much a #leader, #organiser, peacekeeper, face of the organisation, agony aunt, HR. you are always seen and at the forefront. Decision making you are the leader, but also you are the trainer to develop the staff to become #independent #thinkers. You are on call 24/7 and have to be able to assist when needed, being the "Jack of all trades" fits the bill to this role. You have to be a determined person to fill this role as it is time consuming, but with time #management #skills, #training and #development of #staff, #discipline and belief in yourself it is #Achievable. That said with all these roles to fulfil, the gratification of succeeding is wonderful and the failure drives you harder. Being able to compete against group funded properties and succeed is superb. Innovation and creativity is crucial in the world of boutique management, you have to be willing to take the ups and downs along the way, Take a chance reap the rewards and learn from mistakes. Everyday in a boutique hotel is rewarding and captivating, keeps you alert and ready. You put the effort in you get the rewards. Owners want a GM who they can trust to make the right choices, stepping up to the plate is the first step, build relationships and work as a team. Know the limits and push them, never get comfortable Find the right boutique hotel and make it happen #boutiquehotel #boutiquehotels #generalmanager #owners #travel #tourism #relationshipbuilding #teamwork #rewardingcareer #hospitalityindustry
