I'm a firm believer. I'm creating a really positive environment because my belief is people perform best in that kind of environment. They feel safe. They know that I'm rooting for them. It's all about communication, right? So I want to get them to realize that they're all part of the big, the big picture. If you have meetings where you allow people to talk and discuss topics, you let them be heard and. We'll have a good dialogue and science is better that way. And leaders need to drive that the the pride in what we're all doing together, you know, not only do your job really well, but realize that your job can change and embrace change. And that's kind of what we want to encourage people to think about doing.

Genetic disease is a planet-scale healthcare challenge (6,000 diseases, 300e6 persons living with them). #CRISPR is an actionable approach to a formidable fraction of them. I am awed and inspired by the manufacturing might of Aldevron in CRISPR space. I am equally inspired by the tangible camaraderie and the "one for all and all for one" mindset that everyone I met at Aldevron shows towards the shared goal of "CRISPR cures for all." Folks, hear me: it will take time, it will take innovation, it will take courage - but gene editing medicines WILL be built on-demand, scalably and affordably. This is the central goal of the Innovative Genomics Institute partnership with Aldevron, Integrated DNA Technologies, and other, equally mighty Danaher Corporation operating companies. The power of collaboration was evident today as we welcomed Dr. Fyodor Urnov from the Innovative Genomics Institute to Aldevron’s Madison, WI, site. #TeamAldevron staffed facility tour stops as Dr. Urnov and colleagues from Danaher Corporation and Integrated DNA Technologies, learned more about our work and our facility. The highlight was Dr. Urnov’s “Lunch and Learn” presentation “The Danaher-IGI Beacon for CRISPR Cures: From N=rare to N=all," to our on-site associates, and those tuning in around the globe. His enthusiasm for our work and the potential for the Danaher-IGI Beacon for CRISPR Cures, launched earlier this year, was unmistakable. “We have the right leadership with the right vision. They're trying to create a simpler genetic assay that has the sensitivity of PCR, without requiring the genetic amplification (the copy machine if you've ever been to one of my lectures for the CBRN crowd) using CRISPR. Sounds like a reasonable concept if they can make a few things work. They're not there yet, that I know of. #CBRN #diagnostic #science #PCR #CRISPR #CBRNE #genetic #genes
