Before you heal someone, ask him/her/them if they are willing to give up the thing that makes them sick. - Hippocrates A reminder to talk to and really listen to patients. Do we understand in what situation they are? Does it help to just prescribe medicine 💊 or undertake an invasive intervention? What is the collateral damage for patients, family or the climate? What do they need to proceed? Just a few questions I have. Which one do you have? #healthcare anno 2024 #prevention #sustainability

Ethan from Chicago asks: Can I use honey on my wound to promote healing? Hi Ethan! Yes, honey has been used for its healing properties for centuries, and medical-grade honey can be effective in promoting wound healing due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. However, it's essential to use medical-grade honey specifically designed for wound care, as regular honey may contain impurities. Always consult with a healthcare professional before applying honey to your wound to ensure it's appropriate for your specific situation. Your healing is important to us! Feel free to ask more questions. #WoundCareWisdom #BHWC #AskBHWoundCare #HoneyHealing #HealthcareAdvice #PatientInquiries

Interesting article from The Wall Street Journal about primary care. What if we don't need that annual physical after all? What if we develop an at-home screening similar to Cologuard Classic by Exact Sciences but for primary care - blood pressure, BMI, etc and recommend an annual physical only when indicated? How much capacity could this open up in the primary care system when providers are currently so limited? Wes Haydon - what do you think about this from a #remotepatientmonitoring viewpoint? https://lnkd.in/gahQfnwS

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers! 🧐 Question: Could maceration occur after DEBRICHEM® application❓ 💬 Answer: Maceration may occur in any wound that is kept in an environment that is too moist. This is not something related to DEBRICHEM®, but to the state of the patient’s health. To prevent maceration, wound exudate should always be controlled. However, wound exudate tends to reduce after DEBRICHEM® application as highlighted in our Best Practice document: https://lnkd.in/ggHJP6Mj 🔍 We hope this clears things up! Keeping your wound in the right environment is key to effective healing. 📌 Have more questions? Here’s another article that mentions an opportunity for urgent care centers to participate in a patient’s longitudinal care. As the primary care physician shortage worsens, more and more patients are utilizing urgent care for their annual physicals. While some urgent care providers are hesitant to spend the time that a thorough review of medical history, current health habits, and physical exam for a patient with multiple chronic illnesses requires, previsit screening can assist urgent care clinics in determining which patients are best suited to check-ups at convenient care offices. Younger patients with relatively few chronic medical conditions may benefit more from a redesigned annual check-up, which reviews the patient’s current lifestyle and emphasizes achievable health goals. It will be interesting to see how the yearly physical exam evolves as the worsening strain on primary care providers and increased competition in the urgent care market shape modern healthcare.
