For #PhilanthropyThursday we are highlighting Evans Scholars 🎓 The Western Golf Association conducts championships for professional and amateur golfers, promotes the use of youth caddies and supports the Evans Scholars Foundation's efforts to award full tuition and housing college scholarships to high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. With college costs rising, families everywhere are in need of financial assistance. Evans Scholars Foundations helps send deserving young caddies to college! In 2022, the Western Golf Association and Evans Scholars Foundation continued on a path of record growth; they have 1,100 Evans Scholars at more than 20 universities! They successfully raised $371 million for to achieve this goal. Evans Scholars form supportive communities at universities nationwide. Despite many of their scholars coming from circumstances that put top colleges out of reach or make navigating the college experience difficult, they excel to the tune of a cumulative 3.3 GPA and 95 percent graduation rate. Alumni continue to serve as leaders in virtually every professional field. Learn more about this awesome nonprofit here: https://wgaesf.org/

I am moved by the UVA Swim and Dive team's recent advocacy for mental health and their support of the Sarah Shulze Foundation. It's inspiring to see student-athletes use their platform to speak on such an important topic. Sarah Shulze's tragic story is a reminder that mental health challenges can affect anyone, including student-athletes. In 2022, Sarah was not the only student-athlete who died by suicide. Stanford soccer player Katie Meyer and James Madison University softball player Lauren Bernett also took their own lives. And, sadly, there are many other student-athletes silently struggling with mental health issues. As a former student-athlete, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to balance athletics, academics, and everyday life. Over two decades ago, I struggled with anxiety and depression as a freshman swimmer at the University of Virginia. Unfortunately, mental health was not discussed at the time, and I felt ashamed to show any weakness. If I had access to mental health programs or felt comfortable speaking with my coach, I might have continued my swimming career. Thankfully, society has made progress in understanding and accepting mental health challenges. Younger generations prioritize their mental health, and there are now more resources on college campuses to support students. However, the stigma remains, especially for high-performing students and athletes who expect perfection from themselves. That's why we must continue to advocate for training and resources for all students on college campuses. Let's keep the conversation going and support each other in our mental health journeys. #mentalhealthawareness #studentathletes #collegecampusresources
Virginia Swimming and Diving on Instagram: "Preparing for our upcoming Tri-meet versus NC State and UNC, we would like to share our support for the Sarah Shulze Foundation. Please check out the donation table upstairs at the AFC on Friday 1/18 during our meet to find out more about the foundation! 💙☀️💛"

Leave a Legacy ❤️ If, like us, volleyball has been an incredibly positive and valuable part of your life and you’d like to help others who might not have that chance to experience the profound impact that sport can have, then a gift in your Will can continue the Foundation’s efforts and leave a legacy of support to all those that come after you. By deciding to remember us in your Will, you'll help our team be there to support and guide all ages, all abilities, all across England. Why should I leave a gift to the Foundation? If you believe in supporting future generations in volleyball then leaving a gift in your Will to us is a great way to help us do just that. Gifts we receive make a real difference to developing the sport from grassroots right through to performance level. Your gift will always matter. Can I decide how I would like my gift to be used? Gifts that are 'unrestricted' (i.e. that we can use wherever they'll make the biggest difference) are the most valuable to us as they can be used where they're most urgently needed. You can also leave a gift in your Will to a particular area or campaign, please just get in touch. What type of gift can I leave? We're hugely grateful for every gift and there are three main types of gift you can leave: A residuary legacy is a percentage of whatever is left over from an estate after debts, funeral expenses, administration costs, and all other gifts have been paid. This can be any percentage you like. Many people choose this type of gift as it ensures their loved ones are taken care of first. A pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money that can be any amount, big or small. A specific legacy is a gift of a particular item, such as property or an item of jewellery. For more information, please head to our website, https://lnkd.in/e8MrH-Bm Thank-you ❤️ #VolleyballEnglandFoundation #VEF #Volleyball

The skills parents value the most for their children, at #2, swimming. 🎩 off to GLL and Better for putting this valuable piece of research together. A 2000-person survey is a good sample size for meaningful results. 👏
We have had lots of media activity on this over the past week as we enter #drowningpreventionweek Many people remember their version of learning to swim at School, some fondly with memories of swimming in PJ's and picking a brick up from the deep end, others not such a great experience due to a fear of water. Thousands of School Chilidren now enjoy and benefit from lessons with us that ensure children learn to love and respect water for life. However Schools are more increasingly unable to provide adequate provision for pupils to achieve National Curriculum requirements. This research shows Parents feel it is still one of the most valuable skills that thier Child can learn. https://lnkd.in/e7GxPpJ2 Let's get this back on track #SwimmingAlliance #funding #betterneverstops

We couldn't help but draw parallels between long-distance running and real estate. Both require unwavering dedication, persistence, and a long-term mindset. Just like marathon runners endure months of training, setbacks, and challenges before the big race, real estate professionals invest years into honing their skills, building their networks, and navigating the ups and downs of the market. And much like the feeling of invincibility that comes over you during a particularly exhilarating run, there are moments in our real estate careers when we feel unstoppable. When deals come together seamlessly, when investments pay off beyond our expectations, we're reminded of the endless possibilities that lie ahead. Perhaps the most striking similarity between long-distance running and real estate investing is the commitment to the long haul. So here's to the marathoners, both on the track and in the real estate game. May we continue to lace up our shoes, tackle challenges head-on, and run towards our dreams with unwavering determination. 💪 Brendan Hirschmann, Manager Hirschmann Homes LLC Direct: 972-559-4648 [email protected] www.HirschmannHomes.com

Imagine you are standing on the starting line of a running race. The race official says, "When my arm drops and the gun goes off, you all get to start." Then they point at you and say, BUT, before I do that, YOU get to start NOW before the rest of the field. After you get over the surprise of the unexpected head start, off you race. The rest of the field will be hot on your heels, and some may catch you, but definitely not all, and your competitive advantage by starting early is seen by all as you cross the finish line. You've been caught! 🚗 Great job on your run! If you don't know what does it mean, read on... For 11 years in a row, Red Bull invites all runners across the globe to participate in the World Run, the largest running "competition" in the world. Why is this worth spreading? Because it's like no other running event. The registration fees supports a great cause. 100% will go directly to vital research and clinical trials to find a cure for spinal cord injury (SCI). A little bit of stats, according to WHO: - Yearly 250k-500k people globally suffer SCI - Globally, over 15 million people are living with SCI - Most cases are due to falls, traffic injuries or violence In this year's installment, over 285.000 participants from 169 countries raised more than €8M! For the first time, I've been a part of it ❤️ And not only did I participate. I won! 8 months and +8 kg ago, I started running. Little steps - 3km a run, 2 times a week. Now, I ran my first half marathon. The moral of this story, besides supporting good cause? Everyone can achieve anything. Split your goals to small chunks. Take little steps. And keep going. You'll experience greatest rewards, be it in sport, business or life. I wish you a wonderful day, and see you next year - on a marathon? 🏃
