I especially like it when brands connect with culture in a relevant and powerful way. Creating products specifically for people who are often overlooked in the media is one of those beautiful - and profitable - ways to expand the product offering while simultaneously aligning the brand's values and communication. Vaseline from Unilever recently did this with a product focused on transgender women. With a well-crafted campaign from Ogilvy Singapore, they won gold at Cannes this year (link in the comments). I also can't help but remember Tiago Freitas, a longtime friend and partner, who, back in the day, helped me challenge the students at ESPM with this briefing: how can the skincare market serve transgender people who are transitioning? Well, Gaum, there we go... and it's great to see more and more progress.

Marketers have been guilty of relying on tropes of female stereotypes when crafting experiences for women, with floral patterns and pink palettes dominating creative.      There has however been a notable shift with brands steering clear of these clichés, opting instead to design brand experiences through a more neutral lens, to avoid pigeonholing women into narrow and confining preferences.    Our Managing Director, Louisa O'Connor, explores this topic further in a #femaleleadersclub article for MAD//FEST, shedding light on the importance for brands to consider authenticity and personalisation within marketing strategies.    Want to learn more? As I expand my network connections here in LinkedIn, I'm realizing that Latinos, especially Latina women, are underrepresented in the Marketing world. Out of the over one hundred invitations I have sent to professionals in high-level positions, only one or two have been Latina women. LinkedIn, is it you? Are you not pushing Latina women in searches? Or is it THAT bad for us Latinas out there in the field? Where are you, powerful Latinas in Marketing? Considering the Hispanic buying power in this country, it is a shame that our perspective is not considered or valued in the field.
