Today, Canada and the United States jointly announced the first co-investments targeting the development of strategic critical mineral deposits in Canada. Two Canadian companies have received funding to advance the resilient development of North American critical mineral supply chains. How can the UK's public and private energy sectors join forces to accelerate UK as a green Superpower?   At yesterday’s round table hosted by EY welcoming Minister Andrew Bowie, UK Minister for Nuclear and Renewables, we had some thought-provoking discussions around this and the way forward for UK.   With the focus of accelerating growth and investment in the energy sector, we discussed viable strategies and international examples from successful regulatory and policy measures across this space. Insightful contributions highlighted potential opportunities for UK to adopt or even surpass. Thank you Tim Buckley for the post and to Blair Palese and Jez Franklin for the re-share. We need voices to find and help define the opportunities that exist on the back of these challenges. Singapore is a great example. For years Singapore has used it's tax system to attract investment. The OECD is working to change this and impose a minimum Global Tax Rate. In response the Singaporean Government endorses and adopts the changes, but they also introduce new tax rebates for investment in greener, or more future-focused industries; therefore pivoting and transitioning their economy to account for the change. Why do we focus on singular solutions in Australia? Nuclear | Hydrogen | Electrification? I have raised the question before, but why are we not talking about bio-fuels? They sequest carbon as the raw materials grow. Yes, they also emit carbon, but if we insist on bio-80 grades, or above, then we should still see a dramatic reduction in emissions. It is also less costly to convert existing equipment and other infrastructure to support this transition rather than electrification of roadways or hydrogen.
