Spain = reference in High Speed Rail

The European Commission has been clear about its demands for the construction of #RailBaltica. The railway needs to be finished and have trains running by 2030 to continue funding. Friendly advice on looking at this map:  Average speeds are not a good metric when measuring the quality of rail service, unless you are a fan of high-speed only rail networks! After all, you can only get good averages if you skip a lot of stations or they are very very spaced!

They say Sweden is not ready when the Danish-German mega-project is ready. Another important voice and an interesting article in Sweden have highlighted the transformative potential of the upcoming Fehmarn Belt tunnel between Denmark and Germany. Set to dramatically shorten travel times to the continent by 2029, this monumental project promises to reshape travel and cargo flows throughout Nordic Region, directly connecting Scandinavia to Germany. This is poised to reshape the map we know today, creating unprecedented business opportunities and new transportation patterns. In anticipation of this, Denmark is proactively investing in new infrastructure to maximize the potential benefits once the tunnel is operational. This initiative demonstrates the significance of preparing our infrastructure to fully exploit the opportunities this connection will offer. When I browsed through the groundbreaking news about the inauguration of Spain's Pajares high-speed rail line, I was in awe—crossing the Cantabrian Mountains in less than 15 minutes? Now that's what I call turning wishes into will. I am stunned by this engineering feat - 12 tunnels, 10 viaducts, and the 7th largest railway tunnel in Europe! Might not be a top player now, but at some point in life, I believe that this high-speed rail venture will turn into a victory lap for Spain's progress. It took 19 years of construction and €4 billion investment to make this incredible 50km line between Spain and Asturias. It is a testament to the power of perseverance and innovation from engineers who always dreamt big.   #RailwayEngineering #InfrastructureInnovation

RB Rail AS | Rail Baltica will not pass through all of #Riga before 2030. #Latvia is missing three billion euros for the completion of the line through its capital city.
