What a powerful list of leadership rules. Sometimes you need a simple reminder, other times you need support and people around to challenge your assumptions and approach. Vistage Worldwide, Inc. can support your leadership journey. Drop me a note to explore how peer groups and professional coaching can be part of your professional development plan. https://lnkd.in/djiFXSTV Thanks Becky Ruby Swansburg for sharing!
"Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it." That's my favorite of Colin Powell's "13 Rules of Leadership." As we head into 2024 with the charge to lead, these are all worth a read:

Since September 2023, the Grotius Leadership Institute (GLI) has been organizing monthly events inviting speakers to share their leadership insights, tips, and experiences. Grotius is an institute that helps young men to be a better version of themselves through virtue-based leadership. We aim to provide a venue where male students and young professionals can come together and foster friendships among themselves. It is named after the Dutch statesman, humanist, and lawyer, Hugo Grotius. The following statement is ascribed to him, and it underlines the importance of virtues among leaders, which exemplifies our aspirations: “A man cannot govern a nation if he cannot govern a city; he cannot govern a city if he cannot govern a family; he cannot govern a family unless he can govern himself; and he cannot govern himself unless his passions are subject to reason.” In the upcoming months, past events will be highlighted on this page, showcasing insights and highlights of what we do in Grotius. We will also post our upcoming events here. Should you be interested to join us, please refer to the contact details and links in our posters and announcements, or drop a message to Jeffrey Mennen or Robin Maximus.

"You'll be drowned like a rat in your own hole"! That's what Robert was told by more than a few critics and naysayers when he began sharing his vision at the time of the Great Depression. An architect based in San Antonio, TX, Robert began floating his big idea in 1929; proposing a beautification and flood-control plan for the heart of the city. For nearly a decade and over many objections, he kept advocating his vision with elaborate drawings, in private meetings and public speeches. Eventually, Robert Hugman's plan was adopted in 1938 when funding became available through one of FDR's "New Deal" initiatives. Today, The San Antonio River Walk, extends roughly 15 miles, attracts more than 14 million visitors per year and generates roughly $3.5 billion annually in economic activity. San Antonio is also where you will find a number of top-notch Vistage Worldwide, Inc. groups chaired by stellar chairs such as Tom Cuthbert and Robert Schmidt who guide their members in Hugmanian-like fashion and help see around business corners many will miss. Looking forward to visiting those Peer Advisory groups next Tuesday and Wednesday challenging some of the finest business leaders in Texas to create their own metaphorical version of the Riverwalk; a magnetically irresistible "Category of One". 🎉 Happy Presidents Day, fellow patriots! 🇺🇸 Today isn't just about history books and dusty portraits—it's about celebrating the spirit of leadership that runs through our veins as Americans. It’s about reflecting upon and showing appreciation for those who have paved the way. 🥳 In every town, big or small, from bustling cities to quiet countryside corners, we come together, stand up tall. We gather not just to mark a date on the calendar, but to honor those who took the lead when our nation needed it most. From the founding fathers who laid the groundwork for our democracy to the modern-day presidents who continue to guide us through the challenges of our time, their contributions are woven into the very fabric of our collective identity. From Mount Vernon to the White House door, from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of power, they faced the challenges, they bore the burdens, and they led with courage and conviction. Their legacies are not just words on a page or statues in a park—they are the guiding stars that light our way forward, reminding us of the principles and values that have always defined us as a nation. As we celebrate Presidents Day, let's also remember the importance of appreciating history and learning from it. By understanding where we've come from, we can better chart our course for the future. Just as great leaders of the past built upon the successes and lessons of their predecessors, we too can come together to create a brighter and more prosperous future for all. In the business world, this spirit of unity and forward-thinking is essential for success. Just as our nation's leaders have had to navigate challenges and make tough decisions, so too must entrepreneurs and business leaders. By drawing inspiration from the leadership and resilience of those who came before us, we can innovate, collaborate, and drive positive change in our industries and communities. Wave our red, white, and blue, and share a smile as we journey back, even just for a while, to reflect on the remarkable journey of those who came before us. Honor the sacrifices, celebrate the achievements, and renew our commitment to the ideals that they fought for. Commendable shoutout for the leaders who helped shape the future. 🎉🇺🇸 #PresidentsDay #CommunityPride #UnitedWeStand #businessleadership

Helping frustrated business owners increase sales, lead more effectively, communicate with greater precision, and improve customer relationships! Ring the 🔔 for my daily insights, laughs and explosive knowledge bombs 💣
𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝟯 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚!! 🤩 In January 2021, Sandler Connecticut – PEAK officially launched the 𝗣𝟮𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹, an educational/networking initiative for like-minded, upper echelon business leaders from local non-competing industries. Co-sponsored by the Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC), the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce the 𝗣𝟮𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 immediately attracted a core group of select members. That they’re all still actively participating in this program more than three years later is a testament to the value each of them receives from our monthly get togethers. That’s the good news! 🥳 Here’s the better news... We’re looking to expand the existing group and (possibly) launch a second one. And because of the limited number of available seats, we’re giving special consideration to early inquiries from qualified candidates. Watch the video below for a more detailed 𝗣𝟮𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 overview, and click on the link to see what our current members have to say about the program... 👉 👉 👉 https://bit.ly/3IL68Gl After all that, get back to me directly if you have any clarification and/or “next step” questions. 🤔 #ceomindset #ceoleadership #businessstrategy #leadershipdevelopment
