In our upcoming book The Journey of Leadership, (https://lnkd.in/dbz_zdbB) we talk about how the best leaders have a clear mandate and then figure out how to tell their company’s story in an honest and authentic way—in other words, in a style that inspires not only their employees but all their stakeholders. This is especially crucial when communicating with the investment community, a skeptical group that can be quick to unload your company’s stock if your equity story lacks clarity. That’s because a fuzzy narrative about a company’s strategy and purpose can be a signal that the leadership itself lacks focus. Along these lines I think you might enjoy an article in the latest McKinsey Quarterly called “The Equity Story You Need for the Long-Term Investors You Want” by my colleagues Hannes Herrmann, Jamie Koenig, Anna Mattsson and Marc Silberstein. In it, they give some great pointers on how to become a better storyteller and win over those long-term investors that everyone desires and needs. I have met some incredible leaders, who are great storytellers. Francisco D'Souza is one of them. As CEO of Cognizant, he used to share stories to inspire his team...he also helped his leaders become better at sharing their stories - both to connect with each other, and inspire others. Another amazing leader who uses stories to inspire others is Shaheen Mistri. She often uses poetry to bring home the message. Her talk at the Ashoka graduation is a good example. Thank you Pramath Raj Sinha for sharing it with me. https://lnkd.in/dzhfdEY5

This is what a CEO of a publicly funded start up shared with me recently during our coaching session. His values were at odds with those of the majority shareholders and hence the angst. And that’s why leading with values becomes exceedingly important. As leaders, it's essential to recognize the significance of leading with values. Values are the guiding principles that inform our decisions and actions, and they play a crucial role in shaping our leadership style and the culture of our organizations. When leaders prioritize values, they create an environment of trust, respect, and integrity, which is essential for the growth and success of any organization. By consistently modelling and communicating their values, leaders inspire and motivate their teams to uphold the same values, creating a shared sense of purpose and unity. Additionally, leading with values creates a clear framework for decision-making, enabling leaders to make ethical, principled choices that align with their organization's mission and goals. When leaders prioritize values over short-term gains, they foster a culture of accountability and transparency that builds trust and confidence among stakeholders. In today's rapidly changing business landscape, where ethical challenges and uncertainty are prevalent, leaders who lead with values are better equipped to navigate the complexities and challenges of leadership. They can make decisions that reflect their organization's core values and principles, ensuring that their actions align with their organization's long-term vision. So, if you're a leader looking to create a positive impact, lead with values. Your values will shape your leadership style, inspire your team, and drive your organization towards success. And discovering your own values is what we teach in our 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐗𝐎 𝟗𝟎-𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞. The #VersatileLeader - The evolving demands on leadership in today’s fast paced, technology-driven world with breakthroughs like generative and applied AI reshaping business models are transforming how people work and leaders face an increasing need to adapt. Generational differences further complicate the landscape, as each group brings distinct preferences regarding work styles and expectations from organisations and leaders. More than ever, employees seek human-centered leaders who inspire them, offer a sense of purpose, and demonstrate empathy and genuine concern for their well-being. To succeed in this dynamic environment, leaders must cultivate diverse experiences, maintain a curiosity for lifelong learning, and master the art of engaging with various stakeholders. 🌟 "Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens" - Jung In this more than ever fast changing world, the true test of leadership is no longer about how many decisions we make but about how we grow and adapt internally to lead effectively. 🚀 Why inner growth matters more than ever Did you know that most organizational failures can be traced back to leadership that hasn’t evolved as fast as the world around them? It’s not about the number of strategies they know. It is about their depth of understanding and personal evolution. 🧠 Understanding vertical development Most of us are familiar with gaining new skills - what we call "horizontal" development like learning from books and courses. However, "vertical" development is about evolving our thinking and perspective. It is like upgrading the operating system itself and not just adding new apps. This is where we grow from being mere achievers to becoming strategists - leaders who can see beyond the immediate and drive true change. 🌐 Reflecting on our worldview Our organizations are mirrors of our own stages of growth. The way we think and see the world directly shapes our business practices and workplace cultures. Leadership researchers like Laloux and Anderson argue compellingly that to change our organizations, we first need to transform ourselves. 📊 A sad reality Only about 8% of today’s leaders operate at this "strategist" level. This rarity highlights a critical gap in our leadership development, emphasizing the need for personal transformation over acquiring more external knowledge. 🔗 Stepping Into the Role of a Strategist Strategists are leaders who recognize the need for change but are also equipped with the mindset to implement it. They possess the rare ability to integrate diverse perspectives and steer their organizations through complex transformations effectively. 👁️ Looking Ahead: The Leadership Evolution Every leader has the potential to evolve and guide their organizations to new heights. By committing to our own vertical development, we can transform not just our companies but ultimately our society as well. 🌟 Let's think different. Let's think more. In the race for performance on the achievement, let's be conscious that doing more of the same won't help. Letting go something to acquire some new is key. 🔄 If this post speaks to you, like, comment and share to inspire effective change in leadership around us. Let’s be the change we wish to see in a world facing peaks of uncertainty, injustice, and a lack of compassion.

Yes! This is bang on and what I have been sharing with the leaders I support daily. We cannot just operate in a reactive mode anymore - we need to look forward and think on the future. What do we want this to look like in two years….that is my favourite question to ask my clients. Future focus, curiosity vs. confrontation and approaching your employees from a place of empathy - all must-dos in order to stay ahead of the pack! How do YOU see things looking two years out?? #equippingleaders #curiosity #proactivethinking #exploringrootcause #leadershipcoaching

The book "Leadership in a VUCA World" is authored by Michael Fuchs, Jochen Messner, and Rob Sok. It's a comprehensive guide that addresses the challenges of leading in an environment characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA). The authors bring together their expertise to provide insights and strategies for effective leadership in today's rapidly changing world. Here are 10 key takeaways from the concept of leadership in a VUCA world: 1. Embrace Change: Leaders must be adaptable and embrace the volatile nature of the VUCA world, staying open to continuous learning and evolution. 2. Cultivate Self-Awareness: Recognizing one's own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors is crucial for leaders to navigate uncertainty effectively. 3. Develop Resilience: The ability to recover quickly from difficulties and maintain a positive outlook is essential in complex environments. 4. Enhance Agility: Leaders should be able to act quickly and decisively without having all the answers, especially in ambiguous situations. 5. Foster Innovation: Encouraging creativity and new ideas is key to finding solutions in a VUCA world. 6. Communicate Clearly: Transparent and frequent communication helps reduce misunderstandings and aligns teams during times of change. 7. Build Collaborative Networks: Creating strong networks and partnerships can help leaders leverage collective intelligence and resources. 8. Practice Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others can lead to more effective and humane leadership. 9. Encourage Diversity: Diverse perspectives can provide a wider range of solutions and foster a more inclusive environment. 10. Lead with Vision: Having a clear and compelling vision can guide and inspire others even when the path forward is uncertain. #VisionaryLeadership #InspireChange #Diversity #InclusiveLeadership #Empathy #HumaneLeadership #Collaboration #NetworkBuilding #ClearCommunication #TeamAlignment #Innovation #CreativeSolutions #Agility #DecisiveAction #Resilience #PositiveLeadership #SelfAwareness #ConsciousLeadership #Adaptability #VUCALeadership

Shatter the Glass Ceiling: Women Leaders: Become A Sought-After Leader, Master High Impact Leadership & Develop Your Strategic Edge | RING THE BELL 🛎
Are you tuning in to your leadership intuitions—the 'nudges' that whisper insightful guidance? 🤔💭 This week, I acted on such a nudge: a prompt to check in on a client without any outward signal from her end. It was one of those leadership instincts that often go ignored. But here's the twist—she needed that support more than I realized. Like many leaders, she was juggling deadlines and goals, silently struggling to prioritize and progress. She was stuck, not because she lacked solutions, but because she didn't even know what to ask or where to begin. By responding to my nudge, we transformed her silence into strategies, roadblocks into stepping stones. It struck me how often we, especially as women leaders, sideline our insights, considering them too trivial to act upon or too bold to share. But what if these nudges are our gut’s way of tapping us into action? What if your 'crazy' idea or silent question is the key to not just your progress, but also your team's? And ladies - men do this all the time - it’s called ‘gut instinct’!🤯 So here’s my nudge for you today: Don’t silence those whispers of intuition. They're not just fleeting thoughts; they’re potential strategies for your success. If you’re holding back because you think your ideas are too 'out there' or because asking for help seems daunting, let’s talk. Because true leadership isn't just about having the right answers; it's about daring to ask the questions that others might not, and seeking support when intuition calls. Is your progress stalled by indecision? In the LeadHERship Accelerator, learn to convert those subtle hunches into decisive leadership moves. If your intuition is nudging you right now, listen. And if it’s nudging you towards a conversation with me, even better. 🔥 Jumpstart your leadership growth with the LeadHERship Accelerator. DM "DECISION" for your first strategic step. * * * * * 📚 Plus, an extra little nudge also led me to "The Pivot Year," a book brimming with insights that could be the catalyst you need. (And yes, it’s so good I'm sending a copy to my sister!)
