In our upcoming book The Journey of Leadership, (https://lnkd.in/dbz_zdbB) we talk about how the best leaders have a clear mandate and then figure out how to tell their company’s story in an honest and authentic way—in other words, in a style that inspires not only their employees but all their stakeholders. This is especially crucial when communicating with the investment community, a skeptical group that can be quick to unload your company’s stock if your equity story lacks clarity. That’s because a fuzzy narrative about a company’s strategy and purpose can be a signal that the leadership itself lacks focus. Along these lines I think you might enjoy an article in the latest McKinsey Quarterly called “The Equity Story You Need for the Long-Term Investors You Want” by my colleagues Hannes Herrmann, Jamie Koenig, Anna Mattsson and Marc Silberstein. In it, they give some great pointers on how to become a better storyteller and win over those long-term investors that everyone desires and needs.  I have met some incredible leaders, who are great storytellers. Francisco D'Souza is one of them. As CEO of Cognizant, he used to share stories to inspire his team...he also helped his leaders become better at sharing their stories - both to connect with each other, and inspire others. Another amazing leader who uses stories to inspire others is Shaheen Mistri. She often uses poetry to bring home the message. Her talk at the Ashoka graduation is a good example. Thank you Pramath Raj Sinha for sharing it with me. https://lnkd.in/dzhfdEY5
