Housekeeping HOD aside of inspecting rooms, hiring, doing laundry and housekeeping inventory, and training the housekeeping department also there is need to be involved in the hotels revenue assessment. A housekeeping executive reports to the rooms division manager. There is need to understand the simple roles of KPI's (key performance indicators) in revenue management: 1.)Occupancy-- this simply determines how busy the hotel is and more so for the housekeeping. 2.)ADR(Average daily rate)- this is the average rental income per paid occupied rooms ADR= Room revenue/No. Of hotel rooms 3.)TrevPAR(Total revenue per available room-- this is the amount of all forms of revenue from each available room TrevPAR= Total revenue/No. Of hotels available rooms With such kind of knowledge the housekeeping HOD is able to minimize on cost wherelse maximizing on the productivity of the department. Cost cutting in housekeeping department depends on the occupancy of the hotel, this is the factor that controls the supply of guest amenities with a keen detail of the distribution of the amenities to the rooms. TrevPAR (Total revenue per available room) is also a key factor that guides in the costing of amenities to be placed in a single room. Housekeeping being an impeccable ART👌not only does it concentrates on cleanliness of the room or PA but also on effective budgeting of the department. Most mistakes done by HOD's is that during cost cutting they decide to cut on manpower and amenity supply. However forget to cut on waste and standerdizing the number of amenities per guest.
