The power demand in the country has gone up by 50.8% in energy terms from 2013-14 to 2022-23. The peak demand has gone up from 135,918 MW in 2013-14 to 243,271 MW in September 2023. We have been able to meet the increase in demand because we added 196,558 MW of capacity, including 104,059 MW of renewable energy capacity, between 2014 to 2023. #powersector #powergeneration #peakdemand #renewableenergy

Raj Kumar Singh sir undoubtedly great achievements have been made in your tenure. Just to add one more, we successfully achieved universal electrification of all willing households. Further we should plan meticulously how to best integrate infirm power from RE sources such as solar and wind so as to ensure that demand should be met at all instants in a cost optimum manner

6moSir, the answer to the problem lies in having microgeneration at each home and suitable storage at each home. The tariff has to be dynamic so as to control the time of pumping the stored energy to the network. Ofcourse you will need suitable HAN, an intelligent meter and good WAN communication with the meter. It is doable. This capacity increase will be at no cost for the government , we get cheaper power and government generates some income for people who maintains and sells power at proper time from their RTS or wind turbine.
