Limitations to this roof survey.......Just a few. Access onto these flat roofs during a recent condition survey was limited for various reasons. Windows over the roofs fixed closed, bird netting over escape ladders etc. Numerous projections, A/C condensers and various loose items over the roofs restricts the vantage points even further, so a drone was deployed to get as complete a view as possible without direct access. The report highlights these limitations to inspecting and commenting on the condition of the flat roof coverings, and recommends a further inspection once safe access is in place in order to get as complete a picture of these roofs as possible. The remaining serviceable life of the coverings and where renewal is deemed necessary can then be commented on more approximately. #buildingsurveying #buildingsurveyors #buildingmaintenance #dronesurvey

ZECK's 40 ton (!) PULLER-TENSIONER installed the ropes of the new ZERMATT-FURRI CABLE CAR (Switzerland).  The tensioning process in ropeway construction poses special challenges. Terrain and altitude, extreme weather conditions, environmental concerns and safety requirements demand the highest precision and customized solutions that leave the smallest possible footprint on nature.  Drawing on our expertise with power lines, we’ve developed a series of high-capacity Puller-Tensioners specifically for ropeway and cable car construction. Similar to commercial aircraft, these machines feature up to 5-fold redundancy of the most important systems. For easier transportation to high altitudes the large hydraulic aggregates stand separate from the large 2,400mm bull wheels.  The AURO “aerial tramway” is the first of its kind in the world. At what point is it easier to have a probe adapter for the aircraft getting fuel? Then the pilot maneuvers the aircraft into the basket, instead of the other way around. The way the Navy does it 😎. The technology for an automated boom mounted on a pod is interesting and will be impressive, but given the challenges with the semi-automated boom on the KC-46, perhaps a tough ask. While an adapter with a boom tip on one end and a probe attachment on the other seems fairly simple to design, there are employment considerations. Such an adapter would render the aircraft unable to take on fuel from a boom equipped tanker. But perhaps a pod solution could work, but for the aircraft taking on fuel instead! Modify a drop tank with a probe, extendable or fixed. There would be somewhat of a learning curve for plugging the basket, looking left or right to take position. The fuel transfer rate would be lower than boom gas, otherwise it would make a very flexible platform enhancement!
