Hotel prices in Paris for the Olympics are down 41% since last fall, indicating the event hasn't boosted tourism as hoped. Similarweb Digital Data shows a year-over-year decline in Paris lodging bookings from the top 10 countries, except for the US. This suggests that Paris, ranked 5th globally in international arrivals by Euromonitor International, doesn't rely on the Olympics. Visitors primarily come for the sights, culture, ambiance, and food, while the event's heavy security, initial high prices, and excitement might detract from these attractions. Interestingly, countries like Serbia and Croatia, with less usual influence on Paris travel, saw a spike in bookings, likely due to popular athletes taking part in the games.
