I had the pleasure of attending the Silicon Catalyst UK ChipStart UK event at the Institute of Directors (IoD) yesterday and was impressed at how busy the event was, great work Sean Redmond and the team!

Currently, the first step to access any fluorochemical such as Li-ion battery electrolytes salts or fluorinated agrochemicals/pharmaceuticals, involves the conversion of high purity mined CaF2 (calcium fluoride, fluorite mineral) into HF (hydrogen fluoride), a highly hazardous, difficult-to-handle and toxic gas. FluoRok reinvents this centuries-old process, bypassing completely this dangerous intermediate to access fluorochemicals. Its innovative solutions lower CO2 emissions, reduce costs and enhance manufacturing safety.
FluoRok leverages a large set of raw materials, including high and low purity mined fluorite, as well as fluorinated waste derived from the fluorochemical and semiconductor industry. By employing waste streams, FluoRok enables for the first time the circular economy in fluorochemical production. FluoRok enables greener chemical manufacturing and radically improves sustainability in the semiconductor industry by transforming challenging waste streams into high value materials.♻️

Addionics raised $39 million from GM Ventures, Deep Insight, Scania Group, TRATON GROUP to help commercialize its copper and aluminum electrodes for electric vehicle batteries. Their porous, three-dimensional copper and aluminum electrode battery materials use less material and provide faster charging and boost EV range by 30%. They also announced plans for a $400 million investment in U.S. manufacturing facilities starting in 2027 to eventually supply enough for about 1 million EVs a year. Hi Auto's system is now the leading company in the U.S. in this field, and it merges conversational AI with human input, with an accuracy level of over 95%.
