Big up and thanks a million to Wates Group and Wates Family Enterprise Trust 🙌 We just want to give a massive thanks to Wates for backing Electric Daisy and our grand vision for Derby. Wrapping up an epic 2023 for Down To Earth, where the amazing Derby community poured in help, donations, blood, sweat, and even a few tears of joy, to see Electric Daisy come to life. With this kind of support it wont too be long until we fulfill this initial concept Eden Project did for us!! Over the summer, more than 6,000 of you awesome folk came, enjoyed the space, worked in the award-winning gardens, feasted on fresh pizza, and soaked in inspiring talks from legends like Sir Tim Smit of Eden Project George Lamb of Wildfarmed , and Sinead Fenton of Aweside Farm. You guys drank in the atmosphere, and a few bevvies, danced, chilled, learned – but most importantly, you brought Electric Daisy to life and filled it with hope for a new way to create spaces in Derby. Wates has clocked onto how vital Electric Daisy is in regenerating this incredible city and not only did they help us get it off the ground, they've thrown their support behind us for the next two years!! This means the DTE team can take a breather, get our heads together, and plan a banging launch with a fully stacked program of events starting from Easter when we swing open our doors to the public. 🏢 The Metropole complex is located within a National Register Historic District and a local historic district. A City of Seattle ordinance for the local district was developed initially in 1970 in recognition of Pioneer Square's unique social and architectural character, and it has since been updated several times. Project Highlight: Spring Hill. Located at the top of the highest hill overlooking Downtown Mobile, Spring Hill is treasured for its natural beauty, elegant residences, and its abundance of civic amenities. The main retail corridors and public infrastructure, however, are characterized by empty storefronts, buildings set back far off the street, large asphalt parking lots, and small discontinuous sidewalks. In the early 2000s, Spring Hill residents became concerned about their community and decided to take action. They formed a volunteer non-profit organization called The Village of Spring Hill, Inc., landed two sizable grants, and hired Dover, Kohl & Partners to lead their community planning efforts. Over the course of seven days in November 2007, over 600 Spring Hill residents and stakeholders participated in a community charrette and created a plan for the transformation of Spring Hill’s existing strip commercial intersections into vibrant, mixed-use centers with comfortable sidewalks, street trees, on-street parking, and mixed-use, street-oriented buildings. The plan is comprised of three distinct study areas, each of which is an under-utilized commercial crossroads that has the potential to become a great village or neighborhood center. These crossroads include the intersection of Old Shell Road and McGregor Avenue, the intersection of Old Shell Road and Bit & Spur Road, including Lavretta Park, and the intersection of Museum Drive and McGregor Avenue. Since the adoption of the plan, millions of dollars have been invested implementing the plan including a roundabout at the intersection of Museum Drive and McGregor Avenue, new sidewalks, a new pocket park on Old Shell Road, and numerous street-oriented buildings. What started as an optional code overlay for Spring Hill was made mandatory with the approved citywide code update in 2022. #springhill #mobile #alabama #dkp #doverkohl #urbanplanning #planning

Garden Town partners, East Herts District Council, are to launch a series of community forums that will give residents more information on housing developments planned for the local area. Starting this month, the forums will bring planners, local councillors, developers and residents together under one roof to discuss future plans for East Herts. The Garden Town villages in Gilston will be the first development up for discussion on Tuesday 27 February, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, Gilston and Eastwick Village Hall, CM20 2RB. And you don’t have to be an East Herts resident to attend, anyone living across the wider #Harlow & Gilston Garden Town area or has an interest in the project is welcome on the evening. Further community forums will be held approximately every two months with Stortford Fields, Hert3 and Ware2 all expected to feature this year. Knoxville, Tennessee, has secured a $42.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the largest federal grant in the city's recent history. The funding will be used to enhance connectivity between East Knoxville and other areas, with the aim of making downtown and South Knoxville's urban wilderness more accessible to East Knoxville residents through improved transportation options such as walking, biking, and other forms of transit. The project will involve creating over 10 miles of connective infrastructure, including greenways and multi-modal pathways, in seven phases. This initiative is expected to have a significant impact on transportation by improving access to key areas, addressing historical disparities, and promoting inclusive development. Happy Friday! 😀 GREENWAY EXPANSION PLANNED IN MADISON! Source | huntsvilleal.gov The City of Huntsville is moving forward with plans for a new greenway in the western corridor that will also become a part of the Singing River Trail. The Miller Branch Greenway will stretch from the Huntsville International Airport, 1.8 miles southwest from Wall Triana Highway to Swancott Road, following Beadle Lane for part of the path. Cost for the project will be shared by the City and the Metropolitan Planning Organization as part of Transportation Alternative Program funding. The City will spend $192,500 to cover its 20 percent obligation while MPO will cover the remaining 80 percent. The total cost of the project is $962,500. The greenway will be paved and some property will be donated by the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority while other parts of the trail will be in existing roadway right-of-way. The trailhead will be off Wall Triana Highway. “It’s another piece of the expanding greenway network, and it’s particularly exciting to see it branching out west,” said Dennis Madsen, the City’s manager of Urban & Long-Range Planning. “It’s an important step toward better connection to an underappreciated local resource, the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge, and it’s also doing double-duty not just as a Huntsville City Greenway, but also as a segment within the larger Signing River Trail network.” The Singing River Trail is a planned greenway system extending more than 200 miles across north Alabama intended to strengthen regional bonds and create new health and wellness, educational, economic, tourism and entrepreneurial opportunities.
