Too much, too little, too dirty - the water crisis is profoundly impacting societies across the world. We urgently need more companies to step up to the challenge in the thousands, across all geographies and sectors. It is in this spirit that WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development had the vision of providing an entry point for companies starting their water journey (as well as those well into it!) through the Freshwater Accountability Navigator (FAN). It gives an overview of key water-related tools and frameworks as well as their data requirements, and a decision-making tool to indicate which tool and framework best to use depending on a company's maturity level. I strongly recommend anyone with an interest in water to have a look at this essential resource. It has been a privilege to act as the technical partner in this project with my colleagues Lucie Gerber Ariane Lardo Tatiana Fedotova and all those at Quantis who provided additional technical input Åsa Horgby Simon Gillet Francesca Abatianni Anna Kounina Timothée Beckert (+ anyone I may have forgotten!).

At this time of crazy rain, floods and non-summers, water is on many minds and maybe we are thinking that working only on climate and decarbonisation is not enough. It is true. Working on Water and Nature as a whole, understanding risk and impact and building an appropriate strategy - even if not public - is crucial to protect business and the resources needed for it to operate

📣 Introducing the Freshwater Accountability Navigator! >> Quantis is proud to have served as preferred technical partner for this initiative, which aims to support more companies to take meaningful action on #water without further delay. 💦 The WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development Freshwater Accountability Navigator (FAN) is the go-to platform — both free and publicly available — for succinct guidance on when and how to use available water-related tools and frameworks to advance corporate freshwater accountability and action.    ➡️ With more than 50% of major listed companies exposed to medium to high water stress across their value chains, water is a material issue that must be prioritized.  By integrating water into business decision-making and an overarching nature strategy, companies can actively contribute to the global ambition to halt and reverse #natureloss by 2030.    Quantis has the privilege of supporting leading companies on #waterstewardship, which has exposed us firsthand to the need for additional industry-wide guidance to help the thousands of companies who have yet to start on their water journey. Last week, GWF had the privilege of participating in World Water Week in Stockholm 🌍. Our team engaged in meaningful discussions with corporate leaders, NGO representatives, and government officials, exploring innovative ways to address pressing water challenges. As leaders in innovative measurement system solutions for 125 years, GWF's approach to water management is both holistic and data-centric. We believe that responsible use of natural resources begins with precise consumption knowledge. Our advanced measurement systems and software solutions provide a clear picture of where and how water is consumed, enabling more efficient water supply management 💧. At the heart of our conversations was GWF's commitment to reducing non-revenue water losses, a critical issue facing water utilities worldwide. We showcased our innovative flow technology, designed to enhance water measurement accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, we demonstrated how our digital platforms are revolutionizing water stewardship and investment decisions, providing data-driven insights for sustainable water management. One of our standout offerings that garnered significant attention at World Water Week was BALANCE ⚖️. This innovative solution leverages advanced data analytics to maximize leakage reduction in water networks through optimized pressure management. BALANCE has demonstrated remarkable results, achieving an average reduction in leakage of 30% without the need for costly capital expenditure typically associated with pipe repairs. The response to BALANCE at World Water Week was overwhelmingly positive. Community leaders, asset owners, and corporate representatives expressed keen interest in its potential to significantly reduce water losses without requiring substantial upfront investment.
