Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic reaffirmed his and the Croatian Government's strong support for the IFMIF-DONES project during the #DONES Steering Committee Meeting in Zagreb today. He also noted that DONES project represents a very substantive part of Croatia`s bilaterall cooperation with Spain, a fact that was underlined during Prime Minister's last bilateral visit to Spain. DONES is a testament of the shared commitment of the two states, and the international community, to fostering innovation in fusion energy. Through the DONES project, Croatia has the opportunity, alongside Spain, to be one of the main players in a major scientific and technological endeavor in the development of fusion energy. Besides being a significant opportunity for research and innovation, the project is also a great opportunity for Croatian industry and economy, and contributes to global efforts in achieving clean energy. Ms. Leila Benali, PhD., Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, took part today in Rotterdam in "Country Spotlight: Morocco" session, as part of The Africa Hydrogen Forum, alongside Mr. Tarik Hamane, Acting CEO of Masen. In her speech, the Minister highlighted Morocco's commitment, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, to achieve and accelerate the energy transition in the Kingdom and the world as a deliberate political choice for more than 15 years. Ms. Benali highlighted the specificity of the Moroccan experience in terms of accelerating energy transition projects and developing Morocco's offer in the field of green hydrogen, noting that Africa and Europe are called upon in the next 18 months to put in place some basic building blocks to accelerate the development of cheaper and more competitive green hydrogen, most notably: - Support Africa to leverage its tremendous opportunities; - Focus efforts on the mechanisms that enabled liquefied natural gas and nuclear power to flourish in the last century; - Promote open trade, cross border incentives and subsidies, along the supply chain to lower costs and foster technology development. The Government of Japan and UNDP are strengthening the resilience of Ukrainian cities amidst unprecedented challenges. During a recent visit to Kyiv, Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Takeshi Iwaya, announced the transfer of essential energy equipment to Ukraine, including a powerful gas turbine, 15 variable frequency drivers and two cogeneration units.  This equipment will significantly enhance the energy infrastructure in #Kharkiv and #Odesa, ensuring more stable access to heating, electricity, and water supply for the residents of these cities. This initiative is a testament to the importance of international cooperation in the recovery and strengthening of critical infrastructure.
