I'm pleased to announce that I have successfully completed a comprehensive program on elementary data analysis conducted by Idealnovate Africa. During this program I learnt: ➕ Microsoft Excel for functions and formulas. ➕ SQL for storing, retrieving and manipulating data in relational databases. ➕ Power BI for data visualization. ➕Solving complex problems using data. Special gratitude to Idealnovate Africa for having over 1000 students under their wings and effectively teaching them. They made sure they carried everyone along and gave us projects after each class. This experience has exposed me to how much impact, I can make using data especially in the healthcare sector which is my main focus. I look forward to taking up more courses and learning more tools to upskill and expand my horizon. P.S.: my answer to the first question in the video is YES, I'm learning new tools, expanding my knowledge and horizon each day. It gonna be a great week, cheers 🥂. #healthcaredataanalyst #medicalwriter #healthwriter #health

Journey into Data analysis with DSNai - Data Science Nigeria week 1 and 2 recap. Learning with Arewaladies4Tech powered by DSNai - Data Science Nigeria has been what I’d like to call thrilling: A mixture of Adventure and competitiveness. During the first week, I got exposed to statistical terms that I thought I knew and understood already because During my Undergraduate years as a #microbiology student, we took some #statistics courses, so I was sure I knew the basics. Unknown to me, I had used most of what I knew to culture organisms.😂 Our first tutor did an amazing job introducing us to the world of #Data and #statistics. She explained types of #data and the categories they fell into. Qualitative and Quantitative data were quite self explanatory and the other types of data like Ordinal, Norminal, structured and unstructured data needed very relatable examples for them to stick. After the introduction and the assessments that followed, we dived into the world of #excel, making our way through #formulas,#functions #conditionalformatting #pivottables, #powerquery, #datamodeling and some other helpful tools and shortcuts. It was astonishing seeing things you’d manually do taking hours of your time get done in minutes or even lesser. Be like magic!🪄 To complete our Excel learning that spanned for two weeks, we had a mini #project of creating a dash board using a data set we had previously cleaned and modelled. We used #pivottables to create relationships between #values and #dimension/#variables after which we used charts to visualize them. In all, it’s was an interesting experience and I can’t wait to share more about the remaining weeks here Thanks to DSNai - Data Science Nigeria for the opportunity to learn And to our tutors, thank you.

🌍 Exploring the Socio-Economic Landscape of IPs in Ontario Through Data Viz 📊✨ During my Business Analytics program, my team and I did an analysis utilizing Tableau for dynamic data visualization and Excel for detailed data cleaning to explore the well-being of Ontario’s Indigenous population. Our analysis covers key areas: entrepreneurship, educational attainment, income, and access to health services, sourced from various open government data platforms. 🔍 KEY INSIGHTS - 💼 EMPLOYMENT: Most Indigenous-owned businesses in Ontario are concentrated in the southern region, with 55.41% operating in top industries such as Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services, Construction, and Health Care. 📖 EDUCATION: Only 40-50% of Indigenous Peoples pursue education beyond high school. Notably, Indigenous women have higher rates of college and bachelor’s degrees than men, contributing to 43% of Indigenous people attaining postsecondary qualifications. 💰 INCOME AND EARNING POWER: Income disparities vary by age, gender, and education, with males generally earning more than females. Higher educational attainment is linked to greater earning potential, although fluctuations exist among different Indigenous identities. 🩺 ACCESS TO HEALTH: While 95% of Métis have regular access to a doctor, significant disparities remain, especially in primary and emergency care for women of reproductive age. 💡 Recommendations: To foster better outcomes, we recommend aligning educational programs with high-demand industries, enhancing health and well-being through culturally respectful practices, and ensuring equal access to education and employment opportunities for Indigenous communities. 🔗 Link to published interactive dashboard: https://lnkd.in/giT7uHtB Let's continue to raise awareness and empower Indigenous Peoples in Canada. This project was done collaboratively with Tiffany Padilla, Maureen Mae Eronico, and Sam J. D'Souza. Special thanks to our professor, Omar Al Trad, PhD, P.Eng, PMP, who mentored and guided us throughout this study. #Analytics #IndigenousPeoples #DataVisualization #Tableau #Excel #SocioEconomicStudy #CulturalUnderstanding #DataViz #Canada #BusinessIntelligence #DataAnalytics

Product Manager | Ex-Co-Founder | CSPO | GAIQ | HCIA-BigData | Leveraging data to drive products growth
Well, my last product review post had some good reach and was helpful for many people 🤗, so I want to review a service this time! Shout out to the amazing Reem Elmahdi 🙌, my friend, mentor, and accomplished data scientist! 🧠 Her ongoing project "Piece Per Day" is super inspiring! ✨ She helps the Sudanese community learn data science concepts and best practices, especially after the war in Sudan 🇸🇩. But what I REALLY want to highlight is her Topmate account where she provides different data-related services, mentorships, and more! If you're struggling to dive deeper into your data or need a second (professional and on-point) opinion on a technical report, she's a lifesaver! 🦸♀️ Her feedback was very detailed and insightful when she pair-reviewed my ML research paper before publication. Also whenever we revise a report together she doesn't only focus on the “why” but also the “so what”❓, accordingly her insights are invaluable in strengthening the overall impact. Her sharp mind, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit are truly unmatched! 🌟 She is a close friend of mine, We met way back at the Indaba conference -in Kenya 🇰🇪 (the picture is of when we first met) and “luckily” again here in the UAE 🇦🇪. But when it comes to business she’s ruthless and direct! (Here's hoping for more "KhouwAccount" coupons for future services tho 😜) Keep up the amazing work, Reem! I’m sure you would find her services better than what I described, the Topmat link is in the first comment: #Datascience

As part of my ongoing Data Analysis journey, I’ve embarked on a mini-project to test my research and analysis skills. Inspired by a similar project, I chose to conduct a comparative analysis between two cities with the same name: Lagos, Nigeria, and Lagos, a small city in the Algarve region of Portugal. While this comparison may seem unusual, it has proven to be a rewarding experience, revealing far more insights than I initially expected. After completing my research, I organized all the data into a Google Sheets file to create a clearer picture. I hope you enjoy exploring this project as much as I enjoyed working on it. Senior Statistician and Economist - General Director of the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics
My contribution as a panelist during the High-level Forum on Official Statistics under the theme, "Empowering Official Statistics - Upholding the Fundamental Principles to Stay Relevant," The Training institutes and centers can play a key role in raising awareness concerning the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics (FPOS) and can also contribute to their implementation in several ways. Considering their mandate in terms of delivering some training or in terms of developing courses and guidelines and materials in the domains of statistics, and also by their relationship with the statistical community, the training centers contribute: Firstly, by developing training programs and courses focused on the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics to help the national statistical system and principally the national statistical offices to understand the principles in terms of objectives, importance, and use to improve the quality of the statistical production and data management. These activities can also demonstrate the best way to deal with the principals, especially in terms of implementation and how to involve them in the statistical legislation. Secondly, by conducting capacity-building activities such as workshops, seminars, webinars, and conferences to improve the skills and capacity of the statistical community in terms of understanding the philosophy of the fundamental principles of official statistics and the benefit of their adoption in the national statistical system and their impact on the quality of statistics. Top of Form Bottom of Form Thirdly, by encouraging the statistical community to develop and realize/elaborate some Research and Studies to identify especially the difficulties and challenges faced by the NSS to adopt and implement the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics and to deal with them to propose solutions and practical manners in this way. But also to detect good practices and methods to adopt the principals to disseminate them within the NSS. The fourth way that training institutes can contribute to raising awareness concerning the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics is related to Advocacy by collaborating with the statistical community especially governments, NSOs, the National Statistical Council, and other stakeholders to promote the adoption and implementation of these principles at the national levels. This collaboration can take many forms such as developing and disseminating materials and guidelines, organizing public activities, participating in public discussions, and contacting parliaments, political persons, and civil society, … The last one is related to the Collaboration and Partnership with international organizations, NSOs, the National Statistical Council, and academic institutions to raise partnerships and knowledge by sharing resources, expertise, and experiences, to facilitate the adoption and implementation of the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics.

34 years ago today, this fresh from Newcastle University graduate jumped on the Metro to Walkergate Station, walked in to Northern Regional Health Authority and began a journey in the world of NHS Analytics!! There was no internet in those days, there wasn't even a PC - we worked on mainframe computers writing scripts in Fortran to extract data from the Hospital Episode submissions. Many many things have changed in the intervening years (not just the correlation between my receding hairline and increasing waistline) but the core principal in gleaning insights and information from raw data to enable and support actions remains the same. I really wish there was something like the National Competency Framework available when I first started to help me see how a career could develop, rather than the haphazard route I took (fun as its been). I certainly wish I'd kept my evidence portfolio up to date from day 1 of what I've been doing. Sadly no long service award though as I took a year out into Local Authority in 2006 - 2007, which reset my continuous service clock back to 0!! So I'll have to wait for 2027 for anything on that front! Wherever you are at in your analytical career, know that you are part of an amazing data and analytics workforce who work tirelessly to make data better, to be more robust in the analysis we do and seek constantly to maximise the insights and benefits that can come from the data to help make patient care better. Whether you are a member of AphA Analysts, NHS Chief Analytical Officer Network, Royal Statistical Society or any other body (or even none!!) - be proud to be a part of the data and analytics family - too often the unrecognised heroes in the Data and Digital world! #data #dataanalysis #dataengineer #datascience
