Was great to be part of a conversation with Nigel Hedges and Madeline Palmer at the CIO Sit-Down in Melbourne last week to discuss cyber resilience. My 4 key takeaways from the day: 1. The threat and business landscape is constantly changing so we need to have cyber strategies that can keep up and be flexible and adaptable - it is a lot rarer to see multi year strategies that don’t change or get refreshed before their completion. 2. Boards are far more engaged and aware of cyber than they were a few years ago - we should recognise that Board Directors often sit on multiple boards and compare organisational cyber maturity. 3. The AI train has somewhat left the proverbial station and as business enablers, we need to get on board both from an opportunity and risk perspective - we can no longer rely on the traditional assurance gates to review and catch what is used across the organisation. A lot of AI capability is becoming baked into existing software and tools often without our knowledge. 4. Research says there is a female bias when it comes to seeing if they are a potential fit for a role. How do we overcome this and provide pathways for this important talent pipeline?
