Here's a hypothesis about older folks not getting more conservative: many Boomers were radicalized in their youth, and those ideological views were imprinted on them in that very formative time. Witness all the older folks marching for women's rights (especially after Dobbs) with those signs that said "I can't believe I still have to march for this sh**"... So this particular generation is aging into the "senior" demographic, carrying its life-long ideals with it. I'd love to see an analysis of these cohorts through time. Are the generations more stable than the age demographics per se? Boomer, X, Millennial, Z, etc. Cross with general geographics that might be ideologically correlated, and I'd expect to see some clear trends.
