According to Prevent Child Abuse America, pinwheels "represent childlike whimsy and lightheartedness and our vision for a world where all children grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed in supportive families and communities." Thank you to the people who step in, to provide support and at times protection for our next generation of leaders. The stories you hear and hold impact your own resilience. Their work inspires my work. To build individual and collective resilience in teams that impacts how we lead, live and love. Employers have a unique opportunity to equip and support parents in their journey of parenting. They spend a lot of hours at work, under your care and influence. This is a reminder for us to be creative in considering how we can encourage those parents that are showing up in the workplace. Who are likely experiencing stressors at home and inturn increased vulnerabilities. Leaders in the workplace can influence prevention of child abuse. Look to your community organizations that are in the front line and see how you can partner. Your employee’s children are your company’s silent partners. Give them a voice. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is a CRIME

Street outreach and violence interruption - when done well - can significantly reduce shootings. There are few occupations as dangerous and mentally traumatizing. But pay is low, no hazard pay, overtime is often not compensated, and they have little job security, especially when government limits contracts to 12 months. DC is offering 9 months. To promote equity and improve effectiveness of community violence intervention, invest in the workers and extend contracts. DC for Peace, with private funds, have shown their longterm commitment to the CVI workforce to invest in their professional development and personal wellbeing. It’s time for local government to follow suit. 👇
