AMD: The first six months of vision impairment. A unique approach After retiring from a 40-year career in Low Vision rehabilitation, I unexpectedly met patients in Prescott, Arizona, where I donated my time. Instead of traditional methods, I opted for a unique approach - simply talking and listening during two-hour sessions. Having interacted with over 100 patients this last year, I identified common topics shared by everyone. Drawing from my 50 years of experience living with Stargardt macular dystrophy, I provide easily understandable explanations. While I continue to gain insights, I aim to publish the top 15 topics that encapsulate what patients need to know - from symptoms to solutions. Stay connected via email at [email protected].

I specialize in working with people who are confused on what do with their health and are looking for the right answers so they can live life without health limitations.
Your Gut-Brain Connection: Parkison's edition Parkinson's Disease is a brain disorder where the cells that produce a neurotransmitter that calms muscle movements are dying off. This leads to the characteristic tremors in the hands and difficulty walking. These patients are at a much greater risk of falls and pneumonia-related deaths. Muhammed Ali and Michael J. Fox are probably the most commonly known people who have been diagnosed with PD, but some 60,000 people in the US alone are diagnosed each year. Luckily, just like Alzheimer's, there are a lot of things you can control to lower (and increase) your risk. These can include: *Coffee 40% lower *Smoking 30% lower (not suggesting you take up smoking....) *Physical activity 20% lower *Family history of PD 320% higher *Dyspepsia 80% higher *Exposure to pesticides 230% higher *Oils 560% higher *Metals 280% higher *General anesthesia 610% higher Notice the "dyspepsia" risk factor? This has been found in multiple studies over the years, and this one is no exception. In it, researchers followed 9,350 patients (average age 52) for 15 years who had an upper endoscopy scope done. Specifically, they looked for people who had damage to the lining of the esophagus, stomach or small intestings (specifically, erosions, inflammation of the esophagus, ulcers and stomach injury). 15 years later, those patients who had the damage were 415% more likely to be diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (2.2% vs 0.5%). Find out the specifics in the video. https://lnkd.in/gVAX4MkX
