Had the opportunity to tour FrieslandCampina’s biggest global investment—a dairy plant in Indonesia—and interview its Asia President, Ms. Corine Tap. Key update: Indonesia's new government will partner with Frisian Flag Indonesia, a local branch of the Dutch dairy company, and other companies to test President-elect Prabowo's free meal plan. It was my first time visiting a dairy plant since my elementary school field trip. Claire Jiao and I expected to see some cows around the 25-hectare facility, but there were none to be found. The plant instead sources its raw materials from 30,000 local smallholder farmers. For context: Indonesia lags behind its neighbors in milk consumption, with only 16 kg per person annually compared to Vietnam's 20 kg and Malaysia's 50 kg. At FrieslandCampina, the commitment is to empower dairy farmers and building resilient communities worldwide. One example is through Dairy Development. 🌍 Aligned with that, PT Frisian Flag Indonesia, together with our partners, has successfully completed the ten-year ‘Dairy4Development’ project in Pangalengan and Lembang, Indonesia. This project aimed to boost the local production of high-quality milk.   Over 3,500 local dairy farmers participated, marking a significant milestone in fostering economic growth and independence for dairy farmers in Indonesia. The project was supported by a grant of four million euros from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the Facility for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Food Security (FDOV) grant programme, which is executed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency: Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO).
