For context: Indonesia lags behind its neighbors in milk consumption, with only 16 kg per person annually compared to Vietnam's 20 kg and Malaysia's 50 kg. CLEO Will Add Three New Factories JAKARTA. PT Sariguna Primatirta Tbk (CLEO) continues to expand its business to strengthen its performance in the bottled drinking water (AMDK) industry throughout 2024. Sariguna Primatirta President Director Melisa Patricia said, CLEO has planned the addition of three new factories in Palu (Central Sulawesi), Pontianak (West Kalimantan), and Pekanbaru (Riau) in an effort to become an AMDK company with a production network and largest distribution in Indonesia. This new factory is still under construction, and is planned to start operating in 2025. "Thus, the total number of factories that will be operated by CLEO next year will be 35 factories spread across Indonesia," he said, Tuesday (10/9). To realize the construction of the new factory, CLEO has budgeted capital expenditure (capex) funds of IDR 450 billion in 2024. These funds will also be used to expand existing factories or are still in process. Until the end of semester I-2024, CLEO has absorbed IDR 290 billion or 60% of this year's total capex. CLEO management said that the AMDK industry basically continues to grow every year. Historically, CLEO has always achieved double-digit sales growth or exceeded industry growth of 5%. Based on historical records, CLEO performance usually reaches its peak in the second semester. "We are confident that this momentum will continue and the target of double-digit sales growth in 2024 will be on track," he added. To achieve this performance target, CLEO's main strategy this year is to focus on expanding its reach by expanding factories and distribution networks. The aim is to bring CLEO products closer to customers and efficiency operational costs. The focus of CLEO's business expansion is mainly focused on unexplored areas, such as outside Java. CLEO also focuses on pure water drinks that are process using nano-filter technology which removes inorganic materials and pollutants or Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). This is also the company's strategy to attract loyal customers who prefer low-mineral water. CLEO also uses Bisphenol-A free packaging (BPA) to avoid the danger of containing dangerous substances. Melisa stated that the issuance of the BPOM regulation requiring BPA warning labels was positive momentum for CLEO. "Many people will switch to CLEO," said Melisa.
