I recently volunteered with Morven Museum & Garden, to develop a comprehensive pricing strategy for their unique A La Carte event rentals. This project involved analyzing market trends, space capacity, and desired event experiences. The final plan offers a flexible and data-driven approach to maximizing venue revenue. #MuseumManagement #StrategicPlanning #PricingStrategy #VolunteerWork

Feeling very inspired after Tuesday night's Salon Canberra event ‘Enhancing Communities through Infrastructure, Placemaking and Public Art’. The beautiful theatrette at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia was completely full. Thank you to Catherine Carter for providing this opportunity. There were many takeaways from the panel that stuck with me, but my favourite was from Nikos Kalogeropoulos: We are creating fewer reasons to step into the public realm. We create bigger, more elaborate homes, with home gyms, home theatres etc. We drive from these ultra-comfortable homes straight to our sterile, climate-controlled offices and then home again. And yet, so often are the memorable moments made elsewhere, in the public realm. In the spaces between destinations. This was a thought-provoking moment for me, that something seemingly trivial can have a huge impact on the community and its engagement. We need to include art and the public realm in our daily lives. How much beauty and culture do we miss? How many moments of connection do we simply, subconsciously, refuse to experience?

Museums and cultural arts centers, such as the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, are pivotal to community development, offering a wealth of benefits that span cultural enrichment, education, economic stimulation, and social cohesion. These institutions preserve cultural heritage, provide invaluable learning opportunities outside traditional educational settings, and act as significant economic drivers through tourism and local spending. Furthermore, they serve as communal hubs for engagement and dialogue, fostering innovation and creativity by supporting artists and showcasing contemporary work. Their integration into urban development strategies not only enhances the quality of life in cities but also positions them as essential components in building vibrant, inclusive, and dynamic communities. Through their multifaceted contributions, museums and cultural centers play a strategic role in the sustainable development and cultural vitality of cities. #culturalcelebration #culturalarts #museums #communitymanagement #mixedusedevelopment #mixeduse #atlanta #privatepublicpartnership #socialinnovation

Wayfinding plays a crucial role in enhancing mental well-being for diverse populations, including those who are marginalized or typically overlooked by cultural institutions. Here's how wayfinding contributes to mental well-being in museum settings: *Accessible Layout: A well-planned and easily navigable layout ensures that all visitors, regardless of their physical, cognitive, or sensory abilities, can comfortably explore the museum and engage with its exhibits. *Multilingual Signage: Offering wayfinding information in multiple languages not only helps international visitors feel welcome but also promotes inclusivity for local linguistic minorities. *Highlighting Relevant Exhibits: Clear wayfinding can guide visitors to exhibits that represent their cultural heritage or address issues relevant to their experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and validation. *Reducing Overstimulation: Museums can be overwhelming environments, particularly for neurodivergent visitors. Effective wayfinding helps minimize sensory overload by guiding visitors to quieter areas or providing information about potential triggers. You can read more more about our research for Neuroinclusion and cultural heritage sites below from AAM's Exhibition magazine, or deep dive with our Inclusive Smart museums available here: https://lnkd.in/gJ732ZCG #Inclusion #Museums #Community #Wayfinding #CulturalHeritage #Neurodiversity #ExhibitionDesign

Alternating Currents is the kind of event that makes me proud to be a Quad Citizen. It's the type of festival that raises the bar in creativity and provides an authentic community experience. I've been fortunate to work on a lot of really cool projects in my career. AC is by far my favorite. It speaks to my soul because as a young girl, living in a small town, it would have meant the absolute world to me to have this type of access to arts activations in my community. The growth of this event is limitless but it's going to need more engagement from the business community. If your company is interested in quality of place initiatives for the Quad Cities, #ACQC is a great way to show support. It's the only bi-state, multi-city festival of its kind. YOUR SUPPORT HELPS: + Invest in an all-ages vibrant arts culture, inspiring young people to see the Quad Cities as an amenity-rich place where all can thrive. + Activate the heart of our cities; a critical component to the Quad Cities’ ability to attract and retain families, young professionals and workforce. + Support local small businesses by investing in activations that not only directly impact sales over the festival weekend, but provide greater visibility for new customer discovery. + Draw visitors from across the Midwest and beyond to spend money here and become advocates for the Quad Cities. + Foster growth and champion the next gen of local talent. A myriad of opportunities are available, showcasing how local businesses can align themselves with this dynamic festival to not only gain exposure but also contribute to the community's cultural enrichment. Shoot me a message if you'd like to learn more about how to get involved!
