In our upcoming Future Leaders meeting our members will be joined by Professor Mike Ferguson for a session on the psychology of success 🧠 During the session, Mike will answer these key questions: What is ‘success’, and how does it relate to happiness? What are the two essential requirements for success to materialise? How do we operate in our heads in relation to success and achievement? What practical steps do we need to take to get what we want or to where we want to be? What role does ‘luck’ play? Are there really no limits on what we can personally achieve? Personal Development Coach / Creating the space for radically honest & purposeful conversations. / They can inspire us. They can transform our lives. And they can heal us. / Mom to an amazing kid.
Tasha Eurich: "We’ve found that even though most people believe they are self-aware, self-awareness is a truly rare quality: We estimate that only 10%–15% of the people we studied actually fit the criteria." Fascinating insight into self-awareness—how it is defined and how asking ‘why’ is the wrong question if we want to understand ourselves better. The more effective question is ‘what?’ As someone who was always fascinated by the 'why', and now as a life coach asking 'what' is so much more proactive and brings to the surface our creative resources, the resources that will ultimately help us deal with situations, evolve, lead, relate, and make choices that reflect our most authentic selves. #selfawareness #growthmindset #personaldevelopment #leadershipskills #lifecoach

Ever find yourself being your own toughest critic after a slip-up? Many of us fall into the trap of self-criticism, especially after minor mistakes. This cycle of negativity can prevent learning and growth, overshadowing the many things you do well. Consider this advice from Liz Fosslien who's a master at navigating workplace emotions: When you berate yourself for a small mistake, it doesn't just hurt—it hinders. So how do we get out of this harmful and hurtful cycle? Try treating yourself as you would a friend in the same situation. Remember, every mistake is simply a learning opportunity, not a definitive assessment of your capabilities. Treating yourself with a little self-compassion might just shift your perspective and help you embrace growth more fully. Steve Marino was kind enough to send this to me. As we all know , EQ is more important than IQ ( when it comes to personal success) . One of the 4 dimensions of EQ is self awareness. This article on self awareness is research based (5,000 participants) and its findings are fascinating ( e.g. why” people perceive me that way is actually a limiting behavior whereas “what “ do I need to do differently, unleashes more success). If you like research based insights on human performance , you will enjoy this !!! Pat D Amico , Berkeley certified executive coach , can help you more on this subject .

"Think outside the box" is BS. There, I said it. It's well-intended, but not helpful. Your thinking IS your box. It's what you've experienced. It's what you know to be true. The more an expert you are, the more solid your box is. And the more you know. But that's the problem. New ideas have not been proven. They're still sitting in "what if?" It's territory yet unexplored. You can't force creative thinking. Thinking past what you know. So let's change our approach. Let's try curiosity instead. "What if?......." Now we are exploring and trying new things. Now we have the expectation that not everything will be perfect every time. Now we can let our guard down and wonder. I wonder......... Now we are outside the box. It's a change for most. And change is hard. But worth it. Change well, Rich ____________________________________ Hi, I'm Rich! 🤘🤘 I teach Leaders and Teams how to build operating systems for their businesses and their lives. Serious question, when did we start believing that our worth is tied to how hard we work? 🤔 In my latest blog post, I share 5 tips to course correct... because spoiler alert, this belief only end with disappointment and anguish. Tip #1 is to Redefine Your Definition of Success Start by questioning whose definition of success you are working towards, especially in environments where your value is constantly questioned. Is it rooted in your values, or is it an attempt to conform to external standards that do not serve you? Create a new, personal definition of success that includes joy, balance, and well-being, not just productivity.
