Let’s get our surfaces ready and unleash the power of Prominent Paints Premium Satin Silk. Save for later. ✅Surface prep perfection: For the most impeccable finish, ensure your surfaces are sound, clean, and dry with a moisture content below 15%. ✅Patience Pays Off: Freshly applied plaster requires time to settle. Leave it untouched for 21 to 28 days, or allocate 1 week for every 5mm thickness of plaster. This crucial step sets the stage for lasting results. ✅Weather Wisely: Keep an eye on the weather forecast! Undesirable conditions like cold or wet weather can lead to an extended curing period. It's worth the wait for optimal results. ✅Sand Standards: Ensure your plaster sand complies with SABS 1090 requirements. The right foundation makes all the difference. ✅Strength in Structure: Your plaster mix should have a minimum thickness of 10mm and be free from soft or friable material. Compliance with SABS 0164-1 for strength (MPA) ensures a sturdy canvas for your masterpiece. Prominent Paints Premium Satin Silk isn't just paint – it's a commitment to excellence from the base up. How To Properly Prep Your Walls: 1. Repair Imperfections: Prepare the walls by eliminating loose paint and fill any holes, cracks, or imperfections with spackling or putty. 🕳️🏚️ 2. Clean the Surface: Remove dust, dirt, and grease by washing the walls with a mild detergent and water. Ensure they're completely dry before painting. 🧼🪣 3. Cover Areas: Protect floors and furniture by laying down plastic sheets or drop cloths to avoid paint splatters. 🛋️🪑 4. Tape Off Edges: Use painter's tape to cover areas like trim, baseboards, or areas where you want clean, straight lines. This ensures a neat finish. Apply the tape onto the surface, pressing it down gradually. Avoid stretching the tape, as it might lift or tear. Use a smooth-edged tool like a putty knife or a credit card to firmly press the tape down. Choose longer tape pieces to reduce potential gaps. 🩹🚪 5. Prime the Walls: Applying a primer helps paint adhere better, especially on porous surfaces or when transitioning between different paint types (e.g., from dark to light colors). 👈🧑🎨 #PaintPrep #PrepLikeAPro #ProperPreparation #TapeTechniques #FloridaPaints #Painting

Differences in types or batches of paint. 5. Varied application techniques, such as touching up with a brush when the original coat was applied by a roller. **Remedy:** For a perfect finish, consider the following remedies: - Ensure a color match before commencing with painting. - Recoat the entire area from edge to edge or corner to corner, providing a consistent and flawless result. Clean the wall surface with a wire brush or sandpaper to remove any dust, dirt, or loose particles. Apply a coat of primer on the wall and let it dry completely. Mix the Home Flex wall protect wall putty with water in a clean container to form a smooth paste. The recommended ratio is 2 parts of putty to 1 part of water. Apply the putty paste on the wall with a putty knife or trowel in thin and even layers. Fill any cracks or holes with the putty and smoothen the surface. Let the first coat of putty dry for at least 6 hours before applying the second coat. Repeat the same process as the first coat and ensure a uniform finish. After the second coat of putty is dry, sand the wall lightly with a fine-grit sandpaper to remove any roughness or unevenness. Wipe the wall with a damp cloth to remove any dust and prepare it for painting. #wallputty #homedecor #diy #wallart #interiordesign #painting #homeimprovement #wallcare #smoothfinish #wallrepair.

Q: What causes fisheyes? A: Fisheyes are caused by some type of surface contamination that was not removed in preparation for painting. This contamination can be from body oils, silicone from furniture polish, or any greasy or oil substance. The slippery deposit on the surface does not allow the paint to adhere, causing it to shrink away from the contamination and form a dimple-like void in the paint film. Crackle paint🎨🖌, a world where impefections become masterpieces!!! Crackle paint is a decorative type of paint that when applied to a surface intentionally creates a cracked, distressed appearance on the surface. Crackle paint, also known as crackling medium, produces a distressed or antique appearance by creating a network of cracks in the paint surface. Crackle paint works through the differential drying and contraction rates between paint layers or between paint and a crackling medium, resulting in a decorative pattern of cracks. The crackle paint creates a wonderful visual effect and a unique tactile sensation by creating a network of cracks on the paint surface. The crackling effect occurs when a top layer of paint is applied over a base layer, and as it dries, it cracks to reveal the base layer underneath (in the case below, the colours of the base layers used were pink, blue and orange). #cracklepaint #materialscience #polymers #paintsandcoatings

Decorative Artist, Creative Director PlasterCenter, Mave's Decorative Market..retail dealer for Textureline & Golden PaintWorks products
TEXTURBASE VP! Texturbase acrylic Venetian Plaster was created by the inventor of Acrylic polished plaster which has now been copied by many companies. The difference is that Texturline’s formula uses all the same materials as a true plaster... marble flour, talc, clay and of course less than 5% acrylic polymer making application and polishing easier. The added polymer adds flexibility and resistance for an extended life of finish. This plaster was created to get purer colors as well as deep tones not possible with lime products. Texturbase Venetian Plaster is the most versatile acrylic plaster on the market. It has the characteristics of traditional Italian plaster with none of the drawbacks. It can be applied in a day on almost any surface with minimum preparation at the same time as maintaining flexibility, durability & high sheen after polishing. Because of the clay content, it also is great for matte and “clay” look finishes which may be sealed with our texturtop flat wax for matte for clay appearance. Texturbase has sold millions of square feet in three continents with reliable installers and no failures. Exterior with Satin wax topcoat! Available in Quart, Gallon & 4 Gallon buckets. Available in pastel, midtone, deep & black bases. Square footage: 200 – 250 sq ft per gallon/ 2 coats for traditional vp finish.#Mavesdecorativemarket #PlasterCenter

If you are painting grainy wood, using grain filler is important because it smooths out the surface to help attain a glass smooth finish. Aqua Coat found this interesting article from Matt G with Dengarden comparing Aqua Coat White Cabinet Grain Filler to Timbermate's wood filler. He compares the two products and explains why he doesn't recommend Timbermate and went back to using Aqua Coat White Cabinet Grain Filler to finish preparing his oak cabinets for painting. Does Timbermate Have an Odor? Timbermate has a strong odor. Wearing gloves is a must. The odor from this product was so strong it could still be smelled after spraying the primer and stayed on my hands for days after. Aqua Coat is low odor. Does Timbermate Fill the Wood Grain Well? Timbermate did fill most of the grain in one coat, but no better than Aqua Coat. Does Timbermate sand easily? Using a filler that sands easily is important. Timbermate was an absolute nightmare to sand. The sanding made an incredible mess and smelled horrible. Aqua Coat White Cabinet Grain Filler is extremely easy to sand. Is Timbermate worth it? Timbermate is not recommended for a large cabinet painting project. The difficult sanding and terrible odor were the major deal breakers. Went back and used Aqua Coat to finish the remaining cabinet doors. In this article, Matt recommends using Aqua Coat White Cabinet Grain Filler instead of Timbermate. He said the Aqua Coat Grain Filler is better than the original clear version when painting, but the benefit of the Clear Grain Filler is you can use it for staining and clear topcoat projects.
