LEFT-HANDED children in the classroom and at home; they just get on with it, and sort out any problems for themselves, don't they? Handwriting is just a mirror image of right-hander's isn't it? Well "NO" and "NO" are the correct answers to those questions! To help left-handed children flourish in a right-handed world, you need to be pro-active; and it's NOT rocket science! For the next 2 weeks only, I am offering FREE downloadable interactive CPD training (with paid option of personalised certificates, teachers checklist and resources discount code), link as follows: https://lnkd.in/er-vgT9V "'Left-Handed Children - A Guide for Teachers and Parents,' is a game-changer, earning accolades for its transformative impact" - Greshma Momaya, Founding Principal | Pedagogical Leader

What student challenges occurred when I founded my school 33 years ago? There are 3 modalities of different kinds of learners. They are: 1. Visual Learners who learn best by what they see 👀 2. Auditory Learners who learn best by what they hear 👂 3. Kinesthetic Learners who learn best with their hands 👐 Most of us learn best with what we see; some of us learn best with what we hear; and then a few of us learn best with our hands. The children who learn with their hands need teachers who are aware of their needs in this way or else students often miss out with what is being taught. Class size needs to be taken into account also, so a teacher can teach all three of these learning modalities in the classroom. Too many students in one classroom makes it very difficult, sometimes impossible, to teach effectively to all three modalities. In this video, I tell of my son's needs as a kinesthetic learner when he was in school and how I reached out to teachers who could help enable all three kinds of learners with their learning needs. Then by controlling the class size to help allow the teacher to teach all of the different learning modalities in the classroom, the student challenges can be addressed. …And the № 1 content on the Best of CLA 2023 countdown goes to Jennifer Oxman Ryan’s blog on a terrific new book from Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education on how educators can nourish playful in classrooms and schools. A Pedagogy of Play: Supporting Playful Learning in Classrooms and Schools ”In our new book, A Pedagogy of Play: Supporting Playful Learning in Classrooms and Schools — offered at cost in print and as a free, downloadable PDF — we share an overview of our research and some answers to three core questions: Why do educators need a pedagogy of play? What does playful learning look and feel like in schools? How do educators support playful learning in classrooms and schools?” ”In addition to a theoretical framework, we offer practices, strategies, and accompanying tools for supporting playful learning in classrooms and across schools. Short vignettes from schools across our research sites in Denmark, the US, South Africa, and Colombia make visible what playful practice can look like. And for educators interested in dipping their toes into teacher-research themselves, we share a few guides: one that outlines how to develop a collective understanding of what playful learning means in their community, and another that walks educators through the steps of creating and sustaining playful participatory research study groups.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gf7k3kDJ 🎊 Happy New Year to the CLA community! 🎉
