Farmers has a long history of giving back to the communities in which our employees, agents and customers live and work. We are proud to share that 2023 saw an unprecedented resurgence of volunteerism and charitable donations, resulting in record-breaking employee donations, causes supported, and donation currency accrued through the Volunteer Incentive Program. Employees volunteered with 1,599 causes for 36,908 hours, contributing more than one million dollars in economic value to their communities. Additionally, the Giving Tuesday Match Campaign resulted in $179,358 in charitable donations – the most impactful Giving Tuesday in Farmers history!! Charity means different things to different people. And as a representative of the excellent City Harvest London, I've visited literally hundreds of charities in and around the London area, all who do similar, but different, things. Some, like the photo I took below, where children will literally beg for food outside in a carpark where a foodbank has been set up. Others where hundreds queue up for a meal in a Soup Kitchen, braving the cold wintery weather. Still others, where local community will deliver food around to families and vulnerable people. Some where locals will pay a small amount to choose the food they might want. Either way - it starts, in the heart, with food. It drives us - and you all, to keep doing what you're doing. We might express ourselves in different ways - but often we just want the same things. That's what is amazing on the #charity journey. There is no charity that is exactly the same. They all do things different, to suit the environment where they serve. So whether you are working in supported housing, a soup kitchen, elderly care home, a food bank, a social supermarket, or a school or a nursery or something that looks a bit different - no one should go hungry.
