Empowerment Through Music - "Proud To Be A Woman" by Lexi Jones Music In the face of the challenges and complexities that women face around the globe, music has always served as a powerful catalyst for change and empowerment. One song that stands out in this regard is "Proud To Be A Woman" by Lexi Jones Music. This song is a powerful anthem that resonates with the current global discourse on women's rights and equality. "Proud To Be A Woman" is more than just a song; it is a rallying cry for all women to embrace their individuality, strength, and inherent worth. Lexi Jones manages to capture the essence of womanhood in her lyrics, creating an empowering narrative that addresses the challenges women face while celebrating their resilience. The timing of this release couldn't be more apt. With global movements like women are speaking up and standing up against inequality and injustice. This song provides an inspiring soundtrack to this ongoing revolution, reminding us of the power and potential of women. "Proud To Be A Woman" is not just for women, but for anyone who believes in equality and justice. It serves as a reminder that each one of us has a role to play in creating a world where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. Let's remember that these conversations about equality and empowerment are not restricted to our personal lives. They have a significant place in our professional environments as well. Let's continue to support and uplift each other, celebrating the achievements of women in our networks, and working towards a more inclusive and equitable workplace. Let’s share this post and see if we can change this! Partilhem este post. Vamos tentar que alguma coisa mude!
❤️🔥 Dear network! This is one of the rarest occasions I ask for your help. You have probably seen my appeals to support Ukraine before. This time, the topic is different, but just as important to me. I am angry and sad about the injustice happening. The Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa is advertising a concert dedicated to International Women's Day (March 8), the day dedicated to women's rights and equality, with a poster showing nothing but a part of a naked woman's neck 😳!! What?! Is it a joke? I am speechless. This is more than inappropriate. The picture has nothing to do with women's rights and equality or music! Instead, it perfectly represents female objectification, seeing a woman as a body only (part of a body?) I demand that The Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa change the poster. Or admit publicly their mistake, admit that the visual campaign they designed is wrong and inappropriate! Please support me, share the word, or tag someone you think might help. I am tagging people who I guess could support me. Thank you for making this world a better place. #womenrights #dei APAV | Apoio à Vítima | Victim Support Portugal Lee Chambers Vivian Acquah CDE® Lauren Howard

Earlier this week, a few days before International Women’s Day, I was re-reading The Mirror and the Palette, a book that has a strong message about women’s experience in the world. In this case the world of art. Written by Jennifer Higgie, one of today’s most-respected art critics. It's the type of book that you return to time and again. Spanning 500 years of biography and history to reveal the women who made art (in the West) often against tremendous odds - from laws and religion to the pressures of family and public disapproval. Lacking political and financial independence and everyday freedoms, with little or no artistic and critical support, regardless of these obstacles a dazzling array of women artists embody that fact that there is more than one way to understand our planet, more than one way to live in it, and more than one way to make art about it. This is a book of self portraiture simply because other subject matter was unavailable to women. “She's railing against her corsets, her chaperones, her husband and her brothers; she's hammering on doors, dreaming in her bedroom, working day and night in her studio. Despite the immense hurdles that have been placed in her way, she sits at her easel, picks up a mirror and paints a self-portrait because, as a subject, she is always available.” On International Women’s Day it's worth noting that this is not ‘just history’ - it is the world we continue to live in today. As a case in point - the BBC recently reported on incredibly courageous Afghan girls resisting the Taliban through music, secretly recorded at incredible risk. We who have freedom and opportunity should make it our business to look out for and support women who turn their backs on convention and repression and live lives of resilience, creativity and bravery. #InternationalWomensDay #creativefreedom #voices #resilience #hope

Have you heard about the ingenious campaign by RAPP UK for South Asian Heritage Month? RAPP UK has partnered with the Masala Podcast to tackle cultural taboos within the South Asian community. 'The Campaign We’re Not Supposed to Talk About' is turning heads with eye-catching out-of-home posters in key postcodes with substantial South Asian populations. Running on social media, it reclaims slurs used against South Asian women; 'besharam' becomes 'woman brave enough to live her own life' and 'chee chee' is re-defined as 'a woman who isn’t afraid to love herself'. Al Mackie, Chief Creative Officer at RAPP UK, praises the initiative: “Sangeeta and her team are doing amazing work and we were all inspired to do this justice with a stand-out and boundary-breaking campaign.” Sangeeta Pillai, Founder of the Masala Podcast, points out: “South Asian women are one of the UK’s most marginalised groups, with barely any media representation despite 2.75 million of us living here.” What’s the most memorable campaign you’ve seen tackling cultural taboos? Share your thoughts below or tag someone who needs to see this! 🙌🏽 Contact me today for more insights on transformative campaigns! #SouthAsianHeritageMonth #RAPPUK #MasalaPodcast #CulturalTaboos #MarketingInnovation #DiversityAndInclusion

Ever wonder how marketing can be a force for good? This week's Worthy for Thirty episode dives deep into the intersection of purpose and marketing with Deborah Malone, founder of The Internationalist. We explore how companies can leverage marketing to create a positive impact while achieving their business goals. The Internationalist's "Marketing Makes a World of Difference" initiative showcases companies like Tide (promoting gender equality in laundry!) and parking meters that incentivize recycling. These are powerful examples of how marketing can drive real change. But it's not just about catchy slogans. Authentic purpose permeates a company's culture and decision-making. Strong marketing bridges the gap between intention and action, inspiring consumers to adopt sustainable habits. Here are some key takeaways: Authenticity is key! Don't be afraid to showcase the good you're doing! Intention vs. Impact. Listen to the episode to learn how to bridge the gap and inspire real change. Want to learn more? Check out The Internationalist's "Marketing Makes a World of Difference" initiative for inspiring case studies. While many other cities celebrate gay pride in June, Atlanta does it in October. This month coincides with National Coming Out Day and acknowledges the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Gay Rights. Another reason for holding Atlanta Pride in October is the cooler temperatures. Despite the fall breeze, the celebration doesn't stop from heating up here in the big peach. Atlanta has become a melting pot of diversity from all over the country. It attracts many young professionals because of its career opportunities; the median age is only 33. Also, many members of the LGBTQ community have migrated to Atlanta from smaller Georgia cities and towns and from neighboring states. This may partly be why Atlanta is known as the gay epicenter of the South. There is broader acceptance for being gay in Atlanta because of the combination of youthfulness and familiarity. However, in contrast, it is still a city in the Bible Belt and a major center for traditional religious denominations, such as the Southern Baptist, which is alive and prolific in the South. This incongruity creates an interesting mix of similarities and differences. If religion preaches love, and Pride does the same, they are not opposing beliefs at the core. Where they become disconnected is in the use of power. One belief system is about having authority over others, while the other is about empowering ourselves. You gain control over another by convincing them your way is the only way. In contrast, you evolve by enabling others to grow by honoring their individuality. Pride is more than rainbows and parades. It is about being authentically yourself, regardless of what others think. There is no deeper blasphemy than not being true to ourselves. We are here to express our unique abilities. Helping the world evolve and expand is our natural state for our souls and planet. Go to Sofia Wellman YouTube channel to see the full episode, and subscribe to the media making a difference! Right from Taylor Swift’s Earth Shaking Concerts to Miley Cyrus Winning a Grammy, It’s Women Taking Over All Across! Known for her empowering lyrics and feminist advocacy, Taylor cultivates an atmosphere of solidarity and celebration amongst women at her concerts. Her ability to connect with her audience through themes of resilience and self-empowerment has resonated strongly with women of all ages. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus recently made headlines when she clinched a well-deserved Grammy Award for her breathtaking work. Breaking free from her former Disney image, she has reinvented herself as a fearless and versatile artist. Be it Nirmala Sitharaman in India or Kamala Harris in the US, women are leading by example across domains. This is the time when women-supporting-women hasn’t just become a choice but a norm. The empowerment of women is a rallying cry, resonating from the boardrooms to grassroot communities. The current scenario emphasizes collaboration over competition, creating a momentum where each woman's success is seen as a triumph for the entire community. Because while queens fix each other’s crowns, we also make sure that our voices are not only heard but also amplified in unison. #womensday2024 #womenempowerment #womeninbusiness #leadership #goals #support Picture Credit: Forbes
