Premier Hospitality Magazine’s Post

Did you catch our feature on Las Vegas's Sphere in issue 4.4 of Premier Hospitality International? There are few event venues around the world that are an attraction in their own right, but Las Vegas’s Sphere is a feat of engineering audacity from Populous that is deserving of its already revered reputation across the globe. From the moment a passer-by lays eyes on Sphere, there is no mistaking why its design and construction garners such wonder. With a 580,000-square-foot exosphere comprised of fully programmable LEDs, Sphere electrifies the skyline with light, animation, and personality like no other structure on the planet. With a 256M colour display, Sphere can become a vessel for branding, event promotion, or visual illusions, casting a magical spell over Paradise, Nevada and the Las Vegas strip thanks to its 366-foot stature – making it the largest spherical structure in the world. There’s no doubting the immense scale and prowess of Sphere’s exterior, but it’s inside where the venue takes viewer experience to another level. As a leap forward in the advanced technologies associated with live events and performances, Sphere’s interior boasts a ginormous, fully immersive visual environment. Achieving 16K x 16K resolution – making it Earth’s highest resolution screen – this screen rises up and crests along the curve of the building’s shape, dazzling its 17,600 seated audience and 20,000 standing audience with unbelievable video and audio. The quality of sound is unprecedented, with the world’s largest beamforming audio system producing headphone precision and comfort without any such equipment being necessary. Adding to this enveloping experience are technologies which truly activate the senses, with temperature adjustments and scent dispersion able to weave complex and rich audience environments.
