Worst thing anyone can do while asking for referral is expecting me to go to career portal and search an opening for you. Many of the referral conversations are be like: Friend: Bro please refer, here’s is my CV 📃 Me: Sure bro ✔️, please go to career portal and search for an opening which matches your experience and skill set and just share me the JobId And then I never hear from them 😂 #referrals

Phone Interview "Don'ts" From your friendly neighborhood recruiter in healthcare... Letting candidates down is probably the hardest and most emotionally taxing part of what I do as a recruiter. There's no perfect way to do it. Every candidate has different preferences and expectations. And let's face it, bad news is bad news regardless of the delivery method. As a candidate, I always preferred to be notified via email, so that is generally my default notification method as a recruiter. I send a personal email that includes an offer of a follow-up call (to answer any questions they may have). This way candidates have an opportunity to process the news on their own time and terms. But for candidates who've progressed far along in the process or who I've worked with very closely, I send a different email. I ask them to call me for an update when their schedule permits. Then, I count the minutes until the phone rings and share the news via phone. Sigh! It's never easy.

Even though companies around the world are committing to more inclusive hiring practices, referral networks still reign supreme for job hunters and job fillers. This is unfortunate news since referral networks are usually the opposite of diverse and end up being major exercises in “hire who you know.” How to mitigate this? At a minimum, work inclusion into other elements of the recruitment process, such as by having more than one interviewer in the room and using the same questions on all candidates, so that at least the later stages in the process are fair.
