How does surgery resident training impact the duration of tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO) procedures in veterinary medicine? A recent study conducted by veterinary surgeons at UC Davis found that TPLO surgeries performed by first-year residents took 15% longer than those done by second and third-year residents. The results highlight the importance of surgical training for reducing operative times and costs. This research will help optimise veterinary surgical education and resource allocation. At my veterinary internship, I learned about the proper restraint for dogs and cats. It is important to keep the head controlled and the jaw steady so the animal can’t turn and snap at someone. By doing this, it protects the vets, techs, and all others from harm. It allows veterinarians to perform their examinations and procedures. Here’s an article that explains different types of restraint for animals: https://lnkd.in/ggZWW2YP

"Intervertebral Disc Dislocation in a Geriatric Canine Patient This radiograph depicts a lateral view of the lumbar spine of a 9-year-old dog, revealing a herniated intervertebral disc and subsequent dislocation of the T12-T13 vertebrae. This condition, common in older dogs, leads to spinal cord compression and resultant neurological deficits. The disc material (arrow) has protruded into the spinal canal, causing a displacement of the adjacent vertebrae and a severe narrowing of the spinal canal diameter. This has resulted in clinical signs of paraparesis, pain, and decreased mobility. Surgical intervention, including hemilaminectomy and disc excision, can be performed to decompress the spinal cord and stabilize the affected vertebrae. Post-operative rehabilitation and pain management are crucial to ensure a successful outcome in this geriatric patient." Note: This case is just for Information and No more Radiographs will be shared. #Vet #postoftheday #linkedin #radiology #ivdd #hernia #dog #canine #surgeon #post #phD Worldwide Veterinary Service Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Veterinary Practice News #veterinarysurgery ALKUBARAA VETERINARY

End-stage bilateral medial compartmental disease of the elbow in an adult dog. This disease is terrible and causes significant suffering. Such a disaster could have been avoided with a very simple pediatric surgery following an early diagnostic radiographic study at 4 months of age.
