🗣The GD Annual Business Briefing Earlier this week, the whole team gathered at our Leamington Spa HQ for the Annual Business Briefing, starting with coffee, bacon butties, and pastries. 🥐😋 Managing Director Andrew Kitching gave an insightful overview of the economic 📊 climate, and how the unification of Guthrie Douglas and SHY Shading has made us more resilient and agile than ever. 💡 We heard about process improvements and exciting projects on the horizon across the world 🌎 as well as some new initiatives for the UK residential market 🏠 which we expect to see return to growth in 2025. 🌟 A special shoutout to Damon for his pipeline analysis (which brought a few laughs!), Phil Jackson CEng MIMechE for showcasing our engineering craftsmanship along with some Dad jokes 🙈 and Kevin Smith, who recently achieved 20 years of service.🎖 Key takeaways: 1.Improvement is a whole-team effort 💪 2.Sustainable, year-on-year growth is our focus, especially on profit margins 📈 3.Clearer communication of our vast product offering is key 🗝️ Looking ahead, we’re excited to be attending the BBSA Show from 27th-29th October, where you can catch up with Damon Pooley, Daniel Taylor and Richard Steel 🤝 And watch 👀 this space for an exciting WORLD EXCLUSIVE product preview before the year is out! 🆕 A big thank you to the entire team—your hard work and dedication make everything possible. Here's to an exciting end to 2024 and beyond 🎉 #Teamwork #BusinessGrowth #EngineeringExcellence #Resilience #BBSA #ProductInnovation

Thank you to Atlantic Business Magazine for recognizing the impact and importance of continuing to celebrate women in business. Many people do not realize that the advertising industry continues to be male dominated in senior leadership positions. It makes me tremendously proud to accept this award for the amazing growth our agency has had. I share this honor with my female business partner Susan Clarke and all the female leaders at m5 (btw, 75% of our manager level and above employees are women and that is double the industry average). We have proven that putting women in leadership positions brings diversity, creativity, collaboration, and empathy to the workplace. And we have shown that you can do that and be successful in business. This International Women’s Day I am reflecting on the great conversations I have been part of the last few days. Here is a quick summary of key nuggets of advice I have heard: Take up space. Your ideas and thoughts have value. Share them confidently. Share them with a smile. Be your true self. Don’t hide parts of yourself or your personality. Be authentic. Be vulnerable. This should not be misunderstood as not being professional. Shake off the fear. You are going to be afraid, there is no way to avoid that. But learn and practice putting that fear aside. Allow room for people to grow and change. This is the goal in life, so give others that benefit as well. Be kind. Always. Full stop. Laugh often and deep. Find a career, workplace, colleges, friends that you can laugh with. I didn’t hear this, but I felt it. Lots of laughing this week and it reminded me what a privilege it is to have that in my life at work and at home.
From research to executive VP, Heather Dalton's career with m5 the agency has been on a constant upward trajectory. Congratulations to Heather on being named one of Atlantic Canada’s #25MostPowerful #WomenInBusiness. Photo: David Howells
