Ben Whitney, President of Armo-Tool and Abuma Manufacturing, shares "The modern manufacturing shop floor is changing and we have to invest in our staff. We do find it difficult to find people and we have positions unfilled; skilled trades are hard to come by for sure.” "The right approach to the planning of the workforce development could lead to major benefits for our region and the investors, which is an idea emphasized by the call for action presented in the CME’s report.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e87QwaUt.

Founder at Spero Canada. We build employment solutions with the neurodivergent community through asking, listening and being creative. Founder | Neurodiversity | Employment Solutions | Speaker
Are you in advanced manufacturing in Ontario? Does any of this sound familiar to you? "Tough today but we're been lucky". Found it easier to find qualified machinists and technicians, vs warehouse staff. Warehouse role are very challenging roles to fill. Hired 15-20 new but went through 40 (i.e 50%+ didn't make it, quit, or failed probation. Some won't show up for first day or work, or will quit during first say saying "this job is not for me". We a have to find the right fit and attitudes." "Skill sets (in plastics industry) are a dying trade. Hard to find people with experience. Takes 6-8months to understand machines. Transferring skills to new hires is difficult as aging workforce don't want to share knowledge to younger generation. We have lots of workers 55+ who feel lose of job security if they share their knowledge." We've been exploring how understanding neurodiversity can grow the advanced manufacturing / trades workforce for 5 years and we're still hearing the same things from employers. Why? Because things need to change and employers need to know how to make the changes. Join us on October 24th to learn from experts and neurodivergent trades people about the solutions to grow the workforce! This event, in partnership with Sheridan College, NGen, IRAP, SocialliiASD and Spero Canada has been designed for employers in Ontario to take action. #employment #event #advancedmanufacturing #growth https://lnkd.in/d6WxaSB4

In a blog post by Make UK, they write about the struggle with manufacturing workforces, "with 75 per cent of manufacturers recently confirming that they were ‘concerned about an ageing workforce’ in RSM’s Manufacturing Monitor report, the sector could be facing a future resource issue if businesses continue to struggle to recruit the younger generation and then manage them effectively once in place." But with ALWAYSE ball transfer units, you can be confident in negating this recruitment problem by making the best use of your current workforce, boosting your efficiency and productivity at the same time.
