Cereal is all too familiar to us, but have you ever wondered how it came to become such a popular breakfast staple? Turns out it was never intended to be a breakfast food! The first widely-popular cereal was Corn Flakes, which was invented by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg and his brother Will Keith Kellogg (WK Kellogg Co) in the late 19th century.    While it was intended to be a medicinal food that was good for the stomach, Corn Flakes later grew to become a breakfast staple after its great taste and easy storage caused its popularity to skyrocket. (Largely because there weren’t any typical breakfast foods back then and keeping food from spoiling was rather difficult.)  Hundreds of years later, Corn Flakes remain a common and popular breakfast food consumed by many people all over the world.  This major shift in Corn Flakes' purpose goes to show that possibilities are often endless, and something that was created with the intention to fix one issue may end up solving multiple problems. Trader Joe’s has some great finds that use solid ingredients. Fries aren’t one of them. Make sure that a great price isn’t tricking you into using canola oil or soybean oil on your food.
